RE: PH Fleet: Ferrari 599 GTB
Discussion
Love Chris's articles and have always enjoyed his adventures in sports car purchasing over the years, but I can't see the 599 surviving much longer.
Why? Because changing your wheels every 5 mins is a classic displacement activity in lieu of rampant sexual promiscuity. Mrs Harris doubtless knows this.
So, if the Ferrari survives, Chris's wife would have to be traded in for a younger model.
And as we all know, this is the only exercise known to man that is costlier than running a 599!

Sorry but what the hell?
Still in love with the beast then Chris. Keep it or you will suffer pangs of regret for ever. Your paddock escapade reminds me of my mid engine adventures of living down a mile long rally track in Cornwall, that was also used by the Four Burrows Hunt. My beast had front brakes that were over servoed and would tend not to go round bends if braking hard, the answer was to disconnect the servo and use more effort and brake harder. Finally sold mine for a rotary rocket but now I am searching for one to relive my adventures, trouble is most have rotted away, so keep it Chris.

Chris, we use dinitrol AV8 most of the time and it works a treat. It's a bit sticky and looks messy but the aluminum is brand new underneath.
Anyone any idea where I can buy a couple of cans of this stuff? Sounds just the job for keeping the engine cases on my bike in good nick.SS7

Agree 100%, the Ferrari box has been ticked, time to take the Raging Bull by the horns I reckon.
It being a Balboni should mean it retains decent residual value too. OK it's ONLY a V10 with 550bhp so a bit of downgrade (never thought I'd say that about a Gallardo) but I reckon it will make a nice change and be a bit sharper than the GT.
As I recall, Chris H has already had a Gallardo, a very early one bought new. It was black.It being a Balboni should mean it retains decent residual value too. Chris, don't feel too bad about not being able to locate the gnat's g-spot/hole for the towing eye.
Here's my GTO at Fiorano, it took several of Ferrari's finest and even they gave up!
Oh...my...god...your "My Garage" is epic! Alongside racing too. Excellent stuff. I can just about afford to race at the sacrifice of anything special on the road. Sniff...blub.Here's my GTO at Fiorano, it took several of Ferrari's finest and even they gave up!

[quote=mattnunn]Gratuitous "I've got a Ferrari, a paddock and can afford Ping Golf clubs" story.

To be fair - it would be hard to write an article for your employer (motoring website) about the Ferrari you just bought sliding onto the grass and not insinuate in some way that you;
a) own a ferrari
b) own a bit of a field/paddock
