Annie Nightingale provides a short report on F1 racing in 1971, including background interviews and footage from the Silverstone race.

Quite funny to see the mechanics rolling around on the tarmac under the cars with bags of spanners whilst surrounded by fans. Amazing how much F1 has progressed.

I'd never heard of McLaren driver Peter Gethin but discovered he was living 3 miles from me when he died in 2011.

Not a Youtube link so can't embed.

Here's the Brother Film Company showing us the process of making just one part of a modern F1 car, in this case it's a single bolt for the front suspension of Red Bull Racing's car with part number of RB12-FS-00663-02.
From idea, to design, to manufacture, to testing, to installation.

Brother Film have other pretty good stuff in their video vault, well worth a rummage.

Not a YT vid but a reel from FB.

I thought originally it might have been sped up but i trhink it's actually in real time.

So much want and totally pointless.

I love stuff like this and wish that video was longer. I could watch that again and again. When he bolts it to the car and it goes out you realise just what sort of stresses it’s going to be put under. The very best materials, machines and engineers. Pushing the limits of what’s possible - amazing.

I watch cutting edge engineering Australia - also some amazing skill.

/Drive is back. A pre Top Gear home of Chris Harris along with Matt Farah and co. Things happened, they got shunted around, covid happened, now it's a relaunch with an intro video and a video on a 280Z (more the owner than the car)

NASCAR race at Richmond overnight. Joey Gase gets punted into the wall by Dawson Cram, so he pulls the bumper panel off the car, walks back onto the track with it and throws it at Cram's car.

The NASCAR commentators are making light of it, but in karting a few years ago, Luca Corberi had a 15 year ban for doing this:

Different cars, and the kart drivers are more exposed, but it's the same thing happening. It'll be interesting to see what penalty he has coming.

But apart from that, you've got to love the 'Days Of Thunder' driver names, Joey Gase and Dawson Cram. Where is Cole Trickle when you need him hehe . Oh and doing what he did with a bumper that says 'Racing Against Crime' on it hehe .

2:18 for a rolling launch yikes

I love, also, the view from the rear with the completely exposed rear slicks; reminds me of a Porsche 917K

Joey Gase got a $5k fine for throwing the bumper panel. He also got new sponsorship and a new livery for a company that sells car bumpers. https://www.thedrive.com/news/nascar-driver-who-th...
