RE: Spotted: Honda Civic Type-R JDM

The CL7 is a far better looking machine:
Available at far more sensible money too: (still stupid money for an old Accord to any non enthusiast admittedly)

Proper suspension all round, instead of just in the rear like in the FD2. 'Mr Spoon' prefers these to the DC5 for that reason.

Nice looking but somewhat lacking the performance (shares same K20 with the EP3/DC5)
So does the FD2 though? The only downside so far as I can see is the weight and possibly EPS. I would very much like one of those but I have an S2000 itch that must be scratched first...KMB said:
- Get back on the ATR owners forum Kozy!
I would, but there's nothing much going on there!Antj said:
FD2 is a good car and better than the Fn2 in standard form yes.
However you can pick a clean low mileage FN2 up for about 7k now spend 4k on it and it will slaughter a standard FD2. Although saying that you could always buy an EP3 for £3k and spend the same and be even quicker and have even more change left.

How do you find it on a day to day basis? Considered getting one when I decided to get rid of my EP3 but was put off by high prices and reports of a real hard ride, went for a FN2 instead. Now getting itchy feet and a FD2 could be back on the cards.
Hard. I'm used to it now but it is certainly a firm ride, almost too firm for daily use. It can however be eased easily and quite cheaply by swapping out the OEM rear shocks for a pair of Koni adjustables (for the holeshot..!), keeping the springs, for about £126. On almost the softest setting, it will easy off the constant bumpy ride and then you can just harden it down for track days. Not done it myself but a few guys on the FD2 forum have. havoc said:

Too many doors - we don't all have friends / family to cart around, upsetting the balance & handling.......
You could always fold the rear sears flat if you don't need them...that improves the handling, I'm told...I'm thinking that an electric supercharger from ebay will at least make it quicker... and 20 inch wheels for the handling... and then I'll remove the rear doors because they just upset the balance & handling...or so I'm told.
am lucky to have a friend who owned one for a while who'd let me drive it as much and as hard as i'd want to.
amazing cars imo. even driving it at 30mph and feeling the response to the steering you'd get some idea of what the car was about.
driving the same corner (middle of third gear) again and again, pushing it harder and harder it was genuinely amazing what the car would do.
the same friend had an RS4 for a short while, he still misses the civic for its all out banzai attack mode.
someone mentioned the koni shocks on the back before. they do help a lot but it noticeably affects the turn in.
