Never considered an 'ice scraper'. Works well enough over here, and we get the occasional snowfall.

I've got one of these from Tesco - bang on!
just ordered 2 from ebay for a quid each, handle stays warm which is nice
Got a couple of those for the ice, work quite well. I also keep a dustpan and brush in each car to clear the deep snow off, nothing works better.

A/C in cars has a temp sensor on the evaporator and isn't supposed to work below about 3C otherwise the evaporator will freeze up.

Leaf blower petrol) for snow.
I use an old stainless steel wiper blade bracketed to a cut down broom handle with a hard rubber wedge/blade from a snow shovel fitted to it in place of original rubber, one careful push clears a screen of ice.

I'm amazed how, on PH, even the most trivial of subjects can still make people feel superior.

Pee does it, but a two litre bottle of warm (room temperature) water tends to do the trick too.

Personally, I just get in the car, set everything to max as per the car manual, which includes putting the air con on full which is the default setting in my car. Five minutes later I am completely ice free on all windows, which is no mean feat on a Volvo Estate. If you have a problem defrosting leave the house 2 minutes earlier you tt.
So, does anyone have a scraper that will do it quicker?

Yes. When you have 6-12 inches of snow on your car, the 'heaters' take a considerable time. Far easier to start the car, turn on the heaters, and set to getting the snow off the car. By the time you clear it off, the ice comes off the window a bit easier.

Not everyone lives in a country where a few millimetres is considered a nightmare. wink

Tell that to the little light on my V70.

Sorry, I was in UK mode. I tend to use a yard brush to get the real snow down to the skin. I was talking about the final bit that most people in this country get. biggrin
