And yet you chose to come in, read, and comment. Weird that, isn't it?

Yes, very. Pronouncing your disinterest for a topic. Very weird.

I'd actually be interested in that, how sad am I?! I like the Colgate Optic White one, but there's an ace one I brought back from the US called Peroxicare.

Ah, just heard my taxi beeping

Have to say I've become a fan of a bottle of water this season. Even cold water is good enough, as long as it isn't frozen it will melt the ice on the windows, even if it takes a couple of passes on the windscreen. As long as the engine is up to temperature when you pull away it won't refreeze. Just need to be careful around locks.

Tell that to the little light on my V70.
The little light indicates that the aircon switch is in the "on" position. The actual aircon compressor won't be running.

Back on topic. The best way to clear ice from a windscreen is to buy a Ford. hehe

Yep, the light will usually still work. On some cars (I know Fiats and Alfas with climate control do this) the a/c symbol won't show.

It's not normally a problem as cold air has low humidity.

Don't bother with a B&Q discount card, you'll only get 10% off.

Air conditioning ON/OFF

Press the switch to turn the air conditioning on or off. The "ON" or "OFF" LED will light up to indicate if the system is switched on or off. Other functions will still be regulated automatically (if the AUTO switch is on).
The air conditioning functions only at temperatures above 32¡ F (0¡ C).
While the Defroster function is selected, the air conditioning is temporarily activated to dehumidify the air, even if you have manually switched the air conditioning off. This will only function if the blower is not switched off.

This. Boiling hot water FTW. Melts all the ice and immediately evaporates so it doesn't refreeze.

I think it's likely defroster is a typo there and they mean demister. In most cars these days, if you press the demist button the a/c comes on, often without any indication.

They wouldn't run the a/c below freezing as if the evaporator froze then it could burst.

There was me thinking this was going to be an incredibly dull thread, but it seems to have turned into fight night.

Warm water is a bit difficult walking out of work at 9pm! Thanks for the serious suggestions.
No hot water at work, unlikely. Fill a 2l bottle and dump it on the windscreen.
