Warm water is the best. IT wont shatter the screen unless your pouring it straight out of your kettle.

Closely followed by deicer.

The scraper is the last resort because i am lazy.

Those with headed screens, keep quiet. Posh gits wink

Been using my Tesco Clubcard for the last few days but was slightly horrified to spot this morning that it must have caught some grit when scraping my passenger window the other day and scratched a load of lines into the glass. Never had that happen before frown

I am getting the impression that the best ice scraper is one that doesn't actually do any scraping. hehe

Mongs indeed.
Sorry but anyone using the scraper end of that to clear the frost from their car windows would look like a complete tool. I mean look at the fking size of it. WTF!
If you own a 4x4 with a big windscreen (lifted Disco) and aren't particularly tall (me), then this would be awesome.

Warm water.

Anything else just shows you're a little bit simple. smile
I've read this comment and others and struggle to comprehend your claim that you never park anywhere without a convenient supply of lukewarm water. The beauty of a plastic ice scraper is that it's portable. This is a good thing; potability is not really a consideration.

I've got a plastic ice scraper and it's fine.

Start engine, switch climate to full heat in both zones, switch heated front and rear screens on, switch heated seat on, wait 5 mins at most and Im ready to drive off. How easy is that?

Each to their own I guess. In the mornings its outside the house and after work its within a few footsteps. Not that I take the car that often to work anyway.

I use water - but there is also a couple of ice scrapers (one with squeegee part for when just dew ) and some gloves in the car just in-case

Ordered one of these and I have to say its great. Cleared all the windows of the car in less than 30 seconds. For the price it's highly recommended.

I have to say, when I am back home I turn the car on and use the de mist functions on the front and rear screens. Heated mirrors and washer jets too! Go inside, have a coffee, and it is good to go in less than five minutes.

Having said that, there is not a chance I would do that in Aberdeen! I have a standard scraper from Tesco and lots fo water in the boot of the car if required.

I never have to use the car in the morning so it doesn't need doing. If I go at night then I'm usually somewhere without a kettle. This is why a scraper is useful. Yes we are such mongs..

I had one of those for a winter in Indiana. Awesome at shifting a foot of snow. It didn't fit in my bag for the trip back the the UK.

I use a UK spec tiny scraper now. Not as effective at total clearance as warm water, but brilliant for doing a porthole spec sad face on the windscreen and driving along with hardly any visibility.

Also a scraper works on the inside of windows, which can come in handy when your daily drive is an S1 Elise.

My Toyota Avensis was totally frozen this morning. Less than 5 minutes after startng it on with heater etc and it was all gone. If i need to remove snow i have been known you use a weird thing called a hand. I am sure most drivers have them wink
