560hp and it needs a "dynamic pack" to hit 176mph? and what the hell do they do to it to hit 189?

Why not just have one pack, or better still get rid of this stupid 155mph limit that is only there to make owners of slower cars feel like their car can really do 200mph if not for the electronics!

I doubt the 'packs' change the engine, just the tyres and limmiter etc.

I would imagine 560Hp is enough to get very close to 200 (it's aero would not be a silly number)

The 250 kp/h limiter is in place to ensure German political parties don't feel the need to restrict the autobahns.

Ah I have not seen that before. Interesting stuff. Bet that would be fun to try and swap the turbos or fit bigger turbos in there! smile
Swapping turbos probably much easier than on the old c5 - pretty sure that's an engine out job due to lack of space (might be thinking of the b5 rs4 though)

Agreed if you're going big turbo some fancy manifold work may be needed if they're physically bigger, or just lose some plastic trim smile

Brakes and cooling capabilities. They save money by making them 155mph capable.

"the new engine puts induction on the ‘outside’ of the cylinder heads, while the turbos and exhausts sit inside the V, which should enable faster throttle response."

So the turbos will sit in between the cylinder heads as opposed to either side? Will this not create a massive heat pocket in the middle of the engine? Never heard or seen that done before...
Very common now, look at an M5.

The Audi A4 2.5 TDI had it's turbo in the Vee back in 2001. Definitely easier for maintenance!

I can't see how it will improve throttle response though as the air still has to go through an intercooler before hitting the throttle plates.

I reckon it's done for packaging / cost reasons. One manifold and one downpipe as opposed to a pair of manifolds and DPs that are harder to get at.

wrong side...

Exhaust ports are now as close as you can get to the turbo, so bugger all volume between them, thus turbo spool-up will be less laggy, intake path is certainly no longer, and if they use water intercoolers, probably shorter/less volume.

It really bugs me that manufacturers charge you to unlock existing potential by artificially limiting the top speed through various "performance" packages.
