All of their cars have merit aesthetically somewhere....apart from the X1.
But I think 'as a whole' this is their best effort for some time.
prior to this for me was the Z4 coupe

I know plenty of people who aren't "fans" who think it's a good looking car.

It IS a decent looking thing. I prefer the older one, mind.

The PH article says 8cm wider rear track; surely that's the widest point on the car except for the wing mirrors, isn't it?
No, the rear track isn't always the widest point of a car. To give you an example of cars that don't have it at all: Citroën DS, Triumph Spitfire.

That being said, being a BMW, it'll probably sell like pancakes...
I'm confused confused - I thought the track was the distance between the centre of the nearside tyre and the centreline of the offside tyre. Therefore the front or rear track could never be the widest point of the any car. I may be barking up completely the wrong tree here but what do you guys think is meant by track? because it appears to be completely different to my understanding - genuine question, I'm always keen to learn thumbup

No hope.

Unless you do the mod yourself. Do start a thread when you give it a go.
I was in fact being sarcastic. I don't need to "give it a go", got one (a v8 manual, not one of these things).

Which would be fine if I owned shares in BMW but unfortunately I don't
Well go buy some then. Last time I checked they were trading for about £69 a share.

Can you actually buy them? Was talking with a couple of fellow BMW enthusiasts a little while and one of them said he actually tried to acquire some but couldn't because they were all owned by people who wouldn't let them go.

Where/how do you buy them? tongue out

yes the X1 is a pig, but it's a huge seller; I think it was number three in Switzerland last year.

if it's anything like the 3 series saloon, it's not heavier. You say heavier, but how do you know?

oh - you don't.

BMW have already said the 4 series will be lighter than the current 3 series coupe and the M4 will be more focused, will use more carbon and lighter than the current M3... So Mr Presumptuous Smith, you are wrong!!!

Whenever a new model is released, how would you go about getting one of the first in the country? Do dealers take names before the order books open? Or is it a case of being pally pally with them? Or just a brown envelope job? I've always wanted to get one of the first in the country, drive it for 6-12 months and sell it with minimal loss but is that easier said than done?

If only the wheel arch gaps would actually be that small on the production version...

Rear glass looks a lot bigger than previous coupes - they've gone for rear space. I think this one is going to be a bit grown up for a proper hardcore M4.
