I like the looks but I also fear that in typical BMW fashion it's going to be a two tonne car

Sorry since the E36 M3, the E46 IMHO was ok looking car but the M3 was not wild enough to honour wearing the badge.
and the E36 M3 was? the E46 looked far more muscular and better than the E36 IMO.

It will definitely be lighter than the old one if the pattern of E90 saloon to F30 saloon is anything to go by.

As a new F30 saloon owner and previously two E90s, the extra width is noticeable, but after a few days you do get used to it....not saying thats a good thing though....but overall its a massively better car, and the same will apply to the coupe.

It needs the extra width to fit two cupholders side by side in the centre console.

Big improvement over the old one in terms of looks.

Not keen on the idea of 8cm wider than the E92 though - that felt uncomfortably wide to me.
Agree completely. I own an E92 and it definitely does not need to be any bigger. There is already plenty of space inside, and the boot is huge.

I love the styling, though and I am already looking forward to being able to afford a used one in a few year's time. smile

Nice rear, odd skirt, look at the front OH NO! NOT ANOTHER STICK ON NOSE! frown
Like seeing a good looking woman to be instantly turned off for life by her lighting up a cigarette.
Too big, too heavy, too many turbos, no feelsome steering, no LSD, a hateful electronic hand brake, no LED headlamps and stupid cheap stick-on nose - how hard is it to include the grill as a one-piece bonnet?
I despair at the direction BMW are going. They've lost me.
It's probably partly the EU's fault on stupid pedestrian safety and emissions law.
Moan over.

I can't believe no one has pointed out that they've nicked the shape of the Kia grill and moved it to the bottom of the front and rear bumpers:

BMW in "not original" shocker! smile

I do like this car though, and think aligning the 3/4 series to be the same as the 5 and 6 makes perfect sense.

You can get Cataract sorted these days you know....
hehe
serioulsy though, apart from both being attractive well thought out 2 door coupes, they share nothing aesthetically...

I hope it drives even better than it looks

Think is aimed at being a bit of a GT car given its size. I imagine the 1 Series Coupe / 2 Series Coupe would fill the smaller BMW Coupe vacant gap ....

Looks a bit too fussy. Lacks confidence in the design.

This is the nature of modern car design, though. Manufacturers are converging on the "correct" shape for a given package; all they have to play with is fussy details.

At last a good looking Beemer! It's been awhile - the last thing i really liked was the Z4, but the rest of the current range is really badly styled, fx what happened with the 1-series!!?
