Well, I would never go for something like that myself, and certainly not pay that much for it, but... I quite like it. Turned a rather common car into something a bit more special.

Good thread, learnt a lot about something I knew nothing about.

Whatever I do to a car to make something look better or get rid of a problem always goes worse. Orange peel? I have the entire orchard.

This sort of thing

Shirly this or a wrap is the ideal way to try out "outlandish" colours. So no problem with the colour here. It certainly stands out from the crowd as someone doing something different.

Still not what I would spend £1500 on. But there you go.

I helped a mate spray his entire car earlier this year. I think 5L or plastidip and 5L of thinners was about £120. Then paid £30 for a crappy electric spray gun.

You need pretty much zero skill to get a good result and due to the low cost we were considering making a business out of it. Never thought people would be prepared to pay £1,500 though! Can do the entire car in a few hours also.

Could be a useful alternative to the "car bra" beloved of Beetle enthusiasts and Campervan lovers?

But PURPLE? MATT PURPLE?

I have plastidip race cars before until removing stickers removed the plastic coating. In general like the idea and easy of use but just too expensive compared to respray and wrapping.

Atleast with wrapping you can get different patterns, shapes and schemes printed (we used to print stickers and logos on the wrap itself) not just a flat matte colour. But tbh i costs too much for a temp thing, for road car i rather paint it as wrap still doesn't have any depth to gloss and corners look horrible, where plastidip corners are far better.

Car was one of the best Subaru colours beforehand with very nice wheels.

now it looks dreadful with sh*t wheels.

odd decision.

I knew the colour was familiar! And I just realised what it looks like. It's the same matt look as a purple "skin" feel dildo that keeps appearing in adverts on err... I'll stop there. But hehe

Ugly subaru made more fun. Would rather see orange or green than purple though...

it looks like something that will be useful to keep you 4x4 snorkels permanently sealed to the elements and not become leaky after a few weeks biggrin

I see the OP's car most days in Guildford. I think it looks horrific, like someone brush-painted it in purple primer. Just meeds some fluorescent green paint for the wheels to look like a Joker-mobile.

Proof positive that personal tastes vary considerably. At least it gets noticed I suppose, which I'd assume is part of the point.

Heavily leaning towards the green for my wheel protection, although pink might also happen.
