I had an e30 and found it a bit tailhappy, I quite enjoyed it myself, better than bags of understeer!

When I was looking for a weekend play thing ( around £8K) I did try S2000's, Lotus, Vx220, and Boxter, but didn't bother with the Mx5 as was underwhelmed after being a passenger in one. At 6'5 tall, any small roadster is going to be a snug fit for me, but of those I tried, the Z3m felt the most raw/special to drive and was the least cramped. Each to there own on what does or doesn't work for them.

Haven't driven one but like the idea of one at that price as an mx5 alternative in the 3 series it's a lovely power plant

Quite good fun when provoked these things but I look stupid in them and somehow felt a bit removed from the whole driving experience due to the seat being too high in the car.

That 'gearstick failing to centre itself' is a common E36/E46/Z3/Z4 problem, and is a gearbox out job to repair; definitely not just a case of renewing bushes. The bushes will remove slack from the gearchange, but won't cure that non-centering issue.

Heres my Z3 - i've had her for 3 years now and each time i think about selling and buying something else i look at her and think......nah smile

I'm 5'5 and sort of athletic so the car fits me quite well, i can see how being 6ft etc it could be a problem.

She's a 2.2. M sport 2002, probably keep her another year and then see whats about smile
Love the colour, nice wheels, one of the better looking combo's. Thanks for sharing.

What a piece of st. It's got semi-trailing rear suspension which means it must be completely crap to drive.
Like an E30 BMW you mean? ;-)
Yep, just like an E30 M3 and Porsche 944/968. I read on PH that semi-trailing rear suspension makes cars crap or dangerous to drive, so it must be true.

My Z3 needed a new gearbox for that very issue.

GDk style?
You mean GKD style?

Or just buy a 328 shed for £400 and save a few quid? smile

...cut and run, bodywork is so expensive to fix and if it's had this level of abuse in the past, other things will have been bodged...hard lesson this one
