New 328 is a 4 banger too.

Seems like they are missing a bit of a trick

It's the same engine in both.

An m3 with 4wd would be interesting. Bmw's poor performance in snow/ice is its Achilles heel.

I seem to recall they had to re-engineer the 4x4 system to get around our RHD set-up... something to do with the steering fouling the front drive system. Would explain the delay in the UK release.

Clearly BMW are idiots then, engineering a system that doesn't allow them to sell it in some of their most important markets.
That would cover most car manufacturers whose home markets are LHD - there's loads who have struggled with packaging over the years. VW Golf Mk1 RHD brakes for example.

And I really like that.
A foot of snow, a hill, and an old 'rwd' 3 series just cruises past everyone else hehe

they have introduced the bmw 320x in the uk to test the water, no advertising.

The problem is they(rwd cars) are marketed in the uk for the driving enthusiast and the 50/50 weight balance, which this goes against.

But as Audi have increased their market share. they want to compete in the awd market. In one respect it shows how most is marketing bullst but there are rumours of a BMW 135x to compete with the s3 which sounds good. The engine from the m550dx will be offered in 2015? but no word 9n x drive as yet.
