Are there any other motor traders on here that use the Sytner online auction?

I have picked up a couple of cars from there but it just seems lately that nearly all the cars are selling fo retail money. I find this odd as to register you need to be a motor trader so there cant be that many private buyers on there if any at all. Yet the price some cars are selling for would make them a bad buy to sell on with the prep work that some need etc.

The cars are way over priced. I am in the trade and i cannot believe what people are bidding on some of the cars, i see most of them on autotrader a few days later with like £300 margain

its actually cheaper to buy from private!

They are over priced these days, and the last one I had came with £500 worth of undisclosed (but obvious) prep needing doing.

A friend of mine who works for Sytner told me about the site so registered only to find the cars going for retail. He then wanted my login details to buy cars for himself. So I suspect quite a few of the bidders will be dealer staff who will pay a bit more than trade prices. Gave up on the site soon after & not really a fan of the auction way of buying but I guess it must work for them.

Also find Autotrade mail quite amusing recently with dealers offering overage or undesirable cars at the same price or about £200 cheaper than they advertise retail. Yea thanks for letting me buy the car you can't sell for full retail!!!

Im going to head back to Blackbush after the new year in the hope that the trade prices are actually realistic (they tend to be on the high side when i was there a few months ago) and i can get some new stock

Yep, I agree waste of time, have bought a few oddball bits off it in the past, Alfas, Subarus etc but even they do silly money now. Too many lazy group buyers sat at their desks spending someone elses money is the problem.

Any recommendations for finding good stock (PM me if you prefer)?

I trade as a side line to my main job which is in automotive(i have a LTD company and am VAT registered), tend to have up to 5 cars in stock at any one time, all cars under £10k. Usually go for high spec models with low or average miles in good condition.

Thanks

Blackbushe cars rarely go for cap low or average unless they are seriously crap/high miles/undesirable!!!

I didn't go to blackbush in the end. Went to BCA Enfield instead, had a good selection of cars and it wasn't overcrowded like I have experienced at blackbush before. Prices more in line with trade bar a few suprises. Looked like there were a small amount of private buyers but the majority were in the trade.

I haven't yet registered for the Sytner online yet but if they are going for near on retail what's the point, I've used Auction 4 Cars which is basically Motorpoints version but it all depends on what you are after if they have it on there.

take the above two examples, the top one is strong retail money already, the second one you might squeeze a very small profit out of if your lucky!

you'd strip the plate of the second one for starters...

Just started using dealer auction. Might not be the bet place for a trader as we are getting better margins than retail on there.

Cheers

That won't be on it, so forget that idea!
