RE: Even more Audi RSs coming in 2013

B7 RS4 is poo too
RS2 and B5 RS4 were before they went and watered the brand down by offering non-estate models.
Now rather than being a niche for people willing to have an Avant to get the full beans silly version, it's just an 'everywhere' badge they stick on with a big price. And then the only car that DIDN'T need to be a bloody Avant, the RS3, they made Avant only! God knows what Audi marketing are doing but the RS brand to me just says all the wrong things these days.
Mercedes AMG on the other hand went from strength to strength with their 6.3 engine and the Black Series stuff. Serious kit in all the incarnations.
I remember seeing a B5 RS4 when they had just came out and thinking I'd seen something special. Today it's just a bit of a 'meh' occasion to see a contemporary RS car.

Maybe my mind is in the gutter more than Audi's designers....
One would imagine that to check the oil you have to put the front wheels in stirrups and wear rubber gloves. And comment throughout on how dreadful the weather's been recently.Maybe my mind is in the gutter more than Audi's designers....

Not that I have any experience in these things, you understand.

The B7 rs4 is a great car. Not without its fault, mind. RS2 and B5 RS4 were before they went and watered the brand down by offering non-estate models.

I feel same, Neckarsulm should be ashamed. Gone are the Porsche and Cosworth collaborations with rennsport and now we have EU regulation breathing down our neck to meet MPG requirements and other bureaucracy. I still like the B7, loved owning it but not as special as the B5. The B8 does nothing at all for me!

Have you driven one or are basing that purely on what you have read?
I've driven three audis, an a3 3.2 quattro, a new tt tfsi, and the new a4 tdi. Perhaps i'm saying that becuase that's widely accepted to be true? They aren't good to drive, and for that money i think they bloody well should be! My integra dc5 cost a third of the tt, and was just faster, delivered more feedback, turned in better, had superior ride comfort, had better front end grip, and even being fwd was much more resistant to understeer. It seems they make cars for people who like to seem as if they drive a sports car, but in reality don't care too much about how the car drives. On the plus side, they're all nicely built...Used to like Audi's but since the gaping grilles era, have gone right off them. The wheels look like from a cartoon and all audi's seem to look more and more the same to me.
When we look back one day at the 2000's and think of Audi A3, A4, A6, A5 four door, A8, they will look so dated and bland.
good interiors but sadly that is no longer enough.

Still dont understand why there will be no RS6 saloon, Mercedes has the CLS63 and the E63, BMW look like they will be having the M5 and M6 Grand coupe on the same menu so why no RS6 or RS4 saloon? Don't even like the look of the A7 anyway either, the words shoot, self and foot come to mind
To me an Audi RS is more of a gentleman's express. Not an out-and-out track day special but a devastingly fast way of getting point to point in all conditions and in uncompromised comfort. It's no accident that the RS flagships RS4 & RS6 are only available in Avant bodystyles. They are going for a different type of customer to the Merc Black Series amd BMW M series. Judging by their sales success they seem to know what the market wants better than most people on this forum.
Having tried the new RS4 with the suspension set to 'comfort' and the engine and gearchange set to 'sport' it perfectly fullfilled its intended role. It was also a lot of fun. Not the same as a lairy rear driver, but fun nonetheless.
Don't knock Audi RS for approaching things differently just appreciate the wider choice of options the well-heeled enthusiast now has.
After all if you don't like it, don't buy it. Easy really.

That aside, to put it bluntly the Audi RS cars aren't aimed at Integra drivers. If you're after the last word in driver feedback and don't mind putting up with a low rent interior then an Audi RS6 probably isn't for you.
However, if you want a hi-tech, comfortable, 4 wheel drive, 560 bhp missile with unmatched build quality, a great interior and plenty of room for luggage/kids/dog then I suggest you do try an RS6.
On a cold, wet, winter night with the wife and three kids onboard there's no other car I'd rather be in than an RS4/6. In the same situation a Honda dc5 would be very low down on my list of preferred rides.
Doesn't make the Integra a bad car, just a very different proposition.
Different cars for different roles aimed at different people. Simple as that.

Or a 2.0Td equivalent with extra options/toys Given the presence of a wife/kids, and the prevailing conditions, surely a 200bhp one doing three times the mpg would be just as good?
