RE: You Know You Want To: Bugatti EB110 SS
Discussion
Some years ago a London dealer in secondhand exotica was selling a car for me. Amongst the cars they had for sale at the time was an EB110 SS. The dealer eventually sold my car and shortly after that the showroom closed. When I asked another London car dealer why they had closed he told me that the EB110 SS was in fact a standard car that had been brought up to SS spec and was not a true original. Unfortunately for the dealer the indivdual who bought the Bugatti was a gangster/mafia who probably would not accept it was an innocent mistake! So they shut down fast and left the country.

Why the hell would someone who has just spent £1,000,000 on a car be worried about £13k for tyres or £30k on servicing? If they've got that much cash to spend on a car, I'd suggest that that months interest on the rest of their wealth will more than enough to cover the costs involved. People have sold because, well, just because. It's what happens, people buy and sell cars.
Conversely, if VW charge £1 mill, then shouldn't servicing be included for 3 years?Rumours suggest that even Squilionaires baulk at the running costs of the Veyron. I'd hate to have one sitting on my showroom floor.
The EB ? £50k to these eyes, maybe a touch more being the SS

One of my all time favourite supercars. As a kid I had a model of one of these in blue, an F50 in yellow and an F40 in red...
I'd buy them in reverse order at this money but the EB110 is definitely in the top 3!
I love these, I like the looks, it has purpose and makes the Veyron look Gauche and chintzy, sure the Veyron is awesome but it just seems like a motorised Faberge Egg, it is a rich persons car and apart from the tech and the speed it doesnt interest me.
This, an F40, a McLaren F1 are petrolheads cars, just petrolheads that have more money than the rest of us, where they Veyron fits more with Super Yachts, Pneumatic trophy wives, wine cellars and big houses, a bit of a billionaires tick list of trinkets, migth be a little unfair and I am struggling to put my finger on what I dont get about a Veyron, it may well mellow over the years but for now, I would take this instead.
Migth be because you can buy Veyons in really st solour combos, beige/brown ffs, makes it looks like a pensioners boudoir.

I had a figure of 200k in my head, would agree 400 plus seems enthusiastic but they are rare, have a Bugatti badge and arent a Veyron.

This said forum member also proposed to do all future servicing themselves...
anyway, slight O/T so just to add, I absolutely love the EB110, I remember as a child shell ran a promotion where by you got vouchers for filling up, my father collected these and exchanged them for Bbruago model cars, the first being a decent scale version of the EB110 in blue, so nostalgicly always held a place in my heart!!

I don't how servicing costs on a Veryron are a worry if you can afford to spend 1,000,000.Rumours suggest that even Squilionaires baulk at the running costs of the Veyron. I'd hate to have one sitting on my showroom floor.

Whats 4 tyres and a service percentage wise against the new cost, compared to a 25k Focus ST and 4 tyres for example. I bet it's a lot more on the Focus.

The point with some of the Veyron colour schemes is that they are meant to evoke an earlier era. Here is one I spotted. I saw one of these cars join a dual carriageway giving it the full beans, and I have never seen anything accelerate anything like it outside of a GP. This one was brown and gold, and looked very good in reality.I have had a quick look and the one I saw was this one shown here on Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cslmotor/3560268481/

Another 'buy now, appreciate later' article - how about you drive one and consider it's merits as a super car rather than as an asset that hasn't appreciated in real terms. I love these cars but the bills make this something I couldn't live with myself - it's by no means an investment.

My friends dad has done this Edited by heavyearly76 on Wednesday 19th December 14:42
He had an F40, F50 and Zonda all at same time for a while. They looked awesome all parked together.
Both Ferraris gone now sold sadly. He bought the EB110 last year... and has the new Mclaren as an everyday sportscar
He has fabulous taste in cars... he is probably reading this actually!
I'll send a link to make sure

If you think it's ugly, take a look at the Edonis which is based on the Bugatti EB110. I quite like the EB110, just needs work around the headlights.
You really didn't need to spoil the party by dragging that ugly relative out of the cupboard.EB110SS is the Countach pin up of my teenage years.
