The last big Citroen? What makes you so sure dear Piston Heads? Does the DS concept not give an indication that Citroen might be thinking otherwise...

I think we'd all love to see this make production - but even if it does, you can bet your bottom dollar we won't see it over here. All the talk is of the DS9 being centred on the Far East as its main target market; whether it even gets sold in France is anyone's guess. Fingers crossed, though!http://autocarinterior.com/numero-9-citroen/citroe...
I've had mine for nearly 3 years now - love it to pieces. Here's the thread about it

...£7.5K for a 2007 plate one, thats not too bad a hit on depreciation...a 2007 A6 for 5 series must be pretty similar money?
Sadly not: http://used.ph/WqVtYeStill, at least it means the C6 will be down to near-shed money before too long. Then we can all indulge!

...ooh, forgot to look at the mileage, an extra 5K of wedge in your pocket come resale if you went german is a pretty damming stat for the C6 as a private purchase..Still, at least it means the C6 will be down to near-shed money before too long. Then we can all indulge!

A taxi driver in North Tyneside uses one, funnily enough. Just like the Vectra VXR, VW Phaeton and the old Audi A8 4.2 I used to see taxiing round here, there are some pretty cool cars on the council books amongst the sea of black Passats and Superbs!
I have always loved the look of these, and their dedication to classically 'Citroen' design criteria. It's a shame they have finally died. Unfortunately, very few of the ones for sale in the classifieds are the Exclusive models with the fancy interior, most of them are the Lignage models with a fairly low-rent looking sea of black plastic inside. I guess few were prepared to pay more for the Exclusive.

Yes it does seem more common than the Exclusive. For me it had to be the Exclusive with black paint and cream interior. The wood paneling inside looks delicious and it's a very calming and comfortable place to be.A taxi driver in North Tyneside uses one, funnily enough. Interesting to read reviews of the car where people say (or presume) that it's 'wallowy' and 'wafty' - It is, and that's what's brilliant about it - but in 'Sport' mode it's very firm and controlled. Although not exactly 'sporty' I must admit! It doesn't feel large AT ALL when you drive it, also due to the superb all round visibility.

And on that note, I hope your Vigiers are well. You're not French, are you? Itsallicanafford said:

Indeed - and they've further to drop, too, I reckon.A lex said:
Super awesome. Good find! What a shame... If / when I get a "play" car, then I think it's back to the land of LHM - I loved my Xantia, the ride was just stunning and at £80 and 30 minutes work to replace all 4 suspension spheres, the ride was transformed into sublime wafting... At that was the cheap model, I'd love to try a big Citroen.
Now that is a right shocker... What a shame. No air suspension even?

Lovely cars, sad to see them come to an end.
Am i correct in thinking that all Citroens now have conventional suspension? A great shame if so, one of my earliest childhood memories was being sick in my uncle's DS.
Not quite, but very nearly. The top models of C5 are still available with LHM in their veins, but they're a dying breed. Am i correct in thinking that all Citroens now have conventional suspension? A great shame if so, one of my earliest childhood memories was being sick in my uncle's DS.

It's such a shame that British company car drivers dismiss comfort (I mean if I was spending 5 hours a day in a car, why on earth would I want to be comfortable?), and insist on the most unsuitable vehicles for our roads - thereby killing off excellent, and far more suitable, cars like this.
They 'need' sport suspension with 1mm of travel on their 116d, so they can 'feel' the road. Every pot hole, bump and crumbling surface. But then they can at least bore the inevitable chiropractor with how great their car's time would be on the 'ring....
Never a truer word said. My old man has owned Citroens since the mid/late 80's beginning with BX's right up to a C5. They have fantastic suspensions and fantastic diesel engines. His were always sold on as high milers and for comfort levels they could not be beaten. Darren61 said:

Have you been in any of the older big Citroens, e.g. CX, XM, etc.? Even 25 years ago the ride comfort was incredible - you could hardly believe you were driving on the same road as everyone else! It's very much like that, just in a more modern surrounding, and less wallowy in corners! It's such a shame that British company car drivers dismiss comfort (I mean if I was spending 5 hours a day in a car, why on earth would I want to be comfortable?), and insist on the most unsuitable vehicles for our roads - thereby killing off excellent, and far more suitable, cars like this.
