Any royalties to Triumph for that colour?

I kinda like it, although if it was me buying it, I would not choose that colour though

I thought the same. Also think that doing a continental tour in a TR6 or Stag in that colour might be more fun, and probably more eventful. And I own a GT Speed.

I find it somewhat funny and a little sad that the old country still seems obsessed with old money versus new, class and taste when it comes to buying cars. Is there any 'old' money left? Even in the sixties (now fifty years ago everyone) proportionately many Bentleys and Astons were sold to celebrities. I moved out of the county set (incessant snobby suppers discussing private school issues) to live in the US and here I find that people are into cars, or they aren't. If they are, then it's either classics, or new; 'foreign' or 'muscle', with plenty that just love everything. I get much admiration for my cars (including an old Bentley and a new one) from every socio economic group from Park Ave to deep Bronx - if it's a nice car then that's enough. I can park anywhere without fear of jealous retribution and nobody ever talks old or new money.

For all of you that say you'd buy one if you had the money and if they weren't so 'new money', when you make your money will it be 'new' or 'old'?

It's quite ironic to see that you still vote a group of old etonians to ru(i)n the country.

Every new Conti GT is heralded as the fastest Bentley ever, which is fair enough.
But,maybe it's just me but 202mph doesn't seem any faster than the last half a dozen 'fastest evers' could manage. Indeed,I recall an Autocar article about being four up at Nardo or somewhere lapping at 200 in a Flying Spur , when that was launched.

Can I please be the champers swilling nutter who gets to drive a BRG version to LeMans. Apart from that, anyone who thinks that driving at 200mph with the hood down has obviously never done it! I once drove my Moggie at 110 with no roof or side screens and I'm still pulling out the splinters from my teeth.

I'm a big fan of purple cars. I have owned two of them.

But that colour, on that car. Yuk.
I like purple, too, but this version of it is for the hollywood female types such as Hilton, Kardashian, and Bieber.

It's a smidge faster than its predecessor (GTC). As was the second GT, and as will be the next Flying Spur.

These are small increments - I wouldn't expect them to find another 15mph from somewhere, would you?

I like the colour. At least it is a colour rather than shade of black or silver (grey).
Should have gone to Specsavers

Because...

A) They drive round in pink polo shirts with their collars up!

B) They like playing with themselves!

Hmm, so you think that you can stereotype a person/people from the car that they drive.

You do know that this is Pistonheads and that you should just make opinions on the cars, not the person.

My misses drives a RR and i've had two Bentley GTs, does that mean you have something to say about me?

You look like the sort of person who enjoys their cars, would you turn down a free Bentley if someone offered it to you because of the stereotype you associate with it?

A free Bentley....Ummmmm, let me see....are you offering me a free Bentley?

If it's a Conti GT does it come with a really chavvy plate, my initials stitched in the headrest and chrome wheels? smile

Well said. Nothing like a bit of narrow minded envy. Wish I had the money for a pink polo shirt let alone the Bentley!
Could start a whole new thread on this. I've noticed this recently with people's perception of Audi drivers. It used to be BMW owners before that.

I understand the debate - I love Bentleys including the GT, but certain cars have a certain "image" and the GT has a reputation for being bought by footballers who earn 10X more than some Doctors.
Some people find that offensive, especially those that don't like footie!

You beat me to it! Exactly what I was thinking.

Round my way, Bentleys are everywhere, driven by pink polo shirted wkers and their wives drive black RR sports with personalised plates. Bentley have an awful image now even though they are nice cars.
Pray why are they 'w--- krs' ?
They are obviously successful people, what's wrong with that?
If their choice of cars are both UK built and they are supporting that industry then I say 'Good for them'.
Just what this country needs at this difficult time.
You sir, by showing your attitude towards their success,, seem to be the 'w---nkr' here.
Pink polo shirts, and they no doubt wear deck shoes too. Probably spend more time in the hairdressers then their missus and have a fake tan too. What part of that image doesnt say 'wker' to you?

Wealth is fine, I feel no bitterness towards successful people. I just happen to think the 'look' described paints the person to be a bit of a knob.

Having said that when i'm walking around in my lazyboy nikes in a big hoody wearing a hat/gloves people proibably think i'm a knob too. But at least they wont make eye contact or stop me asking to give to charity.

Well said sir, I salute your observation of our strange little island. It is the above reasons that are a primary driver to myself and Lady Petroleum relocating to Australia in the next 12 months. A quality hand built motor is a thing to admire the world over. Although cant help thinking the Bento could do with a change in direction designwise.

Your Mrs will want to come back here as soon as she realises in Oz they treat women like 2nd class citizens. Culturally the place is like the UK 50 years ago, they are racist, bigoted, sexist as well as being crap at cricket! wink

I can jump in my car leave my house and in 12 hours can have driven through over 7 countries experiencing everything they have to offer, try doing that in Oz. Oh, and by the way dont drive over 30mph anywhere or they'll lock you up! If you need to run away don't blame it on the country! This country is without any shadow of a doubt the best country in the world, yes, it has a few problems but I can assure you England is in ok shape. You wernt in a coma last year were you? smile

We makes great cars, the Conti being one of them, (The UK currently manufactures more cars then Germany)it just has a bad image that's all!
