Great write up. (But I'm a bit biased)

Only thing I would change is to fit throwing stars.
Don't fit over the 4 pots and 345mm discs, I think.
Do the M5 Tourings have different brakes to the saloons? I thought the saloons came on the throwing stars, or was that the earlier ones?
All 3.8 6-speeds came with 18" M-paras and larger, floating discs.
The earlier 3.8 5 speed (like mine) came with the 17" T-stars.
The even earlier 3.6 5-speed aslo came with 17", including the classic turbine wheels.

eta - beaten to it!

my 94 plate came with the throwing stars, only my opinion but i think they were the best wheels on the e34 m5 smile
biggest mistake i made was selling mine. i'd shy away from one as a daily driver i think, but will def be getting another in the future when i treat myself for a weekend/summer toy.

getting harder and harder to find a good one these days at "sensible-ish" money, but looking at the right forums, and speaking with the right people, should help you find a good one.
saw a peach recently, with a good specialist in suffolk, think it was about 10k, and if i were in the market right now, i'd have payed that without batting an eyelid.

really enjoyed the write up, described the car perfectly smile

Yes! Another great carpool. Nice to see the car being properly used again. Only just run in as well at 150k.

My Dad had one of these when I was about 8 years old. I wish I had known then what a fantastic machine it was so I could have appreciated it at such a young age.

He used to say you would dap the thottle to get out of a junction and it would send the rears into a frenzy.

I had the saloon version for six years and an amazing piece of engineering. Great engine, wonderful chassis and as many will say the last truly hand made M car. Not silly money to run considering when new they were close to £68,000 new and lots of spares available. Getting on somewhat now and rust is a bigger issue than EDC dampers. Good write up and oh so rare.

Lovely car.

I'm also doing the "one car for every task" thing with my vRS wagons, but I'd dearly love to be able to swap fwd turbo for rwd na! Unfortunately my mileage is just too much to be able to run something that age (plus nanny company car opt-out rules on vehicle age etc).

any idea how many e34 saloons were made?
i'd also like to know how many are still left out there.
