Actually, I think I got as far as m/s/s then forgot to divide by 9.8. biggrin
I liked the first answer - visions of a powerfully built director pinned to his seat, unable to move a limb, or see anything as all the blood had been forced to the back of his brain and his eyes had stopped working.

I have a C63 AMG Performance Pack, that arrived on 27th December. It has a thing called "RACE START" (Mercedes capitalise every gadget for some reason). If:
- the doors are shut;
- the engine is at 80C or more;
- SPORT (Capitalised) mode is activated;
- The steering is straight ahead;
- the vehicle is stationary and the brake pedal depressed (left foot);
- the transmission is in position D
Then:
Push the brake pedal;
Turn the drive closewise until the RS (RACE START in capitals)lamp lights up;
Pull the right sector lever;

if you use the throttle within two seconds to get to circa 3,500RPM (ARE YOU LISTENING AT THE BACK?)
Then release the brake and accelerate away. the vehicle accelerates away at maximum speed.

If not used in five seconds go back to step one, or try using skill.

Simples wink

Just had a quick scan over at the 'Midlife Crisis' blog - well written and entertaining. My favourite car of all time (that I haven't driven...) is an Aston V8 Vantage, so I'll be taking that in as my next read.

hehe That would give you 0-60 in about 0.40 seconds... nearly twice as fast as a top-fuel dragster. biggrin

I love mercs current design language, but those rear lights are god awful. Look like they've been pinched straight from Lexus' drawing board!

I am out of touch.

I can't believe a lardy estate can hit 0-60 in 3.6s

Good work.

I think that is a stunning car.

And 0-60mph in 3.6 secs is just phenomenal. That's knocking on the door of hyper cars...

hehe I wonder if this will become the new way of posting silly links on PH.
No offence but it was funny...

The AMG, however, is extremely serious. Like.

Thank you. If you want a car with more power than it ought to have had, try an 89 vantage and then an emergency stop. Hint: Leave a lot of room, and then move back a bit further.

If you want a 5 seater Saloon car that can hit 60 in under 4 seconds, then yes.

In other news, first E63 tested, testers comments:

Nice to see Merc have sorted out there styling in the last few years. Very, very nice looking car and the stats are just phenomenal!

Begs the question why the M5 is a second slower to 60 though? Merely lack of launch control?

To be quite honest, I dont like the styling, I'd take an XFR (S) over any other super salloons, My dad had one and it went like stink! Im sure its great to drive but the styling is quite frankly hideous (my opinion).

Am I alone in thinking that there's a big hole in the market for an understated super-saloon/estate which doesn't feel the need to wear the equivalent of a posing pouch (E500, anyone?).

Just me then tongue out

Well my S65 has 670hp and 840 ft/lbs and it's completely fine. For the six months of the year it's decent weather you'll be lugging around all that extra 4WD gubbins dulling the thrill of the enormously grunty engine and rear wheel drive!!!
Lagerlout, Please show us your AMG in Readers Cars?!

Wow! Me like a lot. White Estate with full glass room, but no thanks the red calipers. Oh it has to be the S. The dog will have to have warp drive travel sickness pills. Do they still sound like a Spitfire or has the Turbos put an end to that?

3.6 seconds to 62mph? M5 and RS6 has got bhslapped.
And it doesn't have the XF 8 speed 'box everyone has been raving about which I thought was the reason many recent cars have such impressive 0-60 times.
It's not powerful enough to cope with the torque.
Urm.. it definitely is - derivative dependant, but up to 1000Nm.

0-62 in 3.6s - that has got to be 4WD.

I think the E63 estate looks great, but cannot see how a normal person could get 3.6 sec to 0-62 in a 2wd car. Do respect the Merc for its crazy thinking though.

Dont know what country you live in but in the UK last year was the second wettest in history. Also the last 4 wettest out of five were all in the last 10 years. I would say we only have 3 dryish months a year.....thats why I have a RS6. I've never seen a M5 or E63 enjoying that rear wheel drive when its pouring down or chase a dull RS6.
