The extremely high insurance premiums in the UK are surely a big part of the entire 1000 pound shed phenomenon?

Over here on other side of the pond, used cars are actually more expensive than the equivalents in UK. This is despite plenty of supply and similarly high repair costs. The difference here is that insurance (which is a legal requirement) is relatively affordable. If you want to insure an old barge they only ask about $500 (300 quid) even without a no claims bonus (as long as you don't have a terrible driving record.

I reckon a good "shed" like this would probably fetch around $5000 here in Houston. No salt on the roads here in Texas means that you don't see a lot of rusty cars, just beaten up clunkers. Even stty old yank cars easily make a couple of grand.

Just cost me £285 fully comp for my 4.2, so it isn't silly money for everyone. smile

Calm down dear, was just pointing out. I want it. Can you pick it up next time you head up that way?

It'd be a fair swop IF you gave him £50 along with it.

A boring old barge. When can we get back to exciting French hot hatches?

Really don't get the appeal of this one.
