I have a 944 with a measly 210 bhp, would rather have it than a French hatch with a supercharger bolted on, you can fixate on numbers or enjoy your driving, I am not bothered if someone has a faster car, I won't be embarrassed if I get "beaten" by a Saxo as I don't really have any need to be anywhere faster than a Saxo owner, I could buy a much faster car and probably will but not as part of some male chest beating ritual.
A Boxster was more expensive by three or four time than a Saxo for a reason, it was designed by the outset as a mid engined sports car, a Saxo was designed as a shopping hatch, I don't mind Saxos but they don't give the same drive as a Porsche, even if faster by some margin, it is,and will always be a hollow "victory'.
Saxo was just an example, there is an endless list of cars with lesser key rings that outpace an old 2.5 Boxster. This is pistonheads, speed matters, but not for slow Porsches. They're just better for some other unquantifiable measure A Boxster was more expensive by three or four time than a Saxo for a reason, it was designed by the outset as a mid engined sports car, a Saxo was designed as a shopping hatch, I don't mind Saxos but they don't give the same drive as a Porsche, even if faster by some margin, it is,and will always be a hollow "victory'.

You might be surprised to hear that technology moves on, in 1996 200 bhp was a decent output from a 2.5 back then a turbo 2.0 sierra cosworth was kicking out 200 bhpIf someone had told me back then that you could get a diesel 3 series bmw thats producing 250bhp and does 50 mpg id have wet mysef laughing.

Outright speed doesn't matter, I own a Puma with a measly 125bhp (if none have escaped), and it would probably keep a 2.0 924 Honest all day, but I'd snap the 924 owners arm off if they offered a swap. Herman Toothrot said:
Wouldn't that be illegal?
Thought the minimum full time is basically £12k
Student, part time in a Machine shop. So I make bits for stuff I can't afford (I have made stuff for Morgan, Caterham, Land rovers, Fiats and Chrysler though).Thought the minimum full time is basically £12k

The sierra arrived a decade prior in 1986. Honda civics were putting out 185bhp in 96 from little 1.6s. I think the 2.5 Porsche engine was weak because they wanted it to be rather than any lack of technical abilities.NISaxoVTR said:

Indeed, in 1996 Honda brought out the DC2-R with 200bhp from a 1.8.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
