Terrible if true, but the whole story seems rather far-fetched and implausible.

Can't imagine anyone would be that mental afterall.
Indeed.

I'm aghast that even the lycra road warrior brigade would do that (and I use that term as a regular non-militant cyclist!) If that's true and unembellished then I'd say the guy on the bike was a cock end of the first order. But there again there are plenty of those driving in cars, walking on the pavements and riding on the tube too; it's just unfortunate the OP met one.

I was silly enough to park briefly on double yellows, this in no way warrants a tt vandalising my car when he believes no one is looking for a very minor slight to his day.
Unfortunately, if he hadn't punished you, you would probably have done it again. You just need to learn from this and move on. If you don't show any consideration for others, they won't show any to you.

(Unless you want to risk it happening again)

Exactly, what these tree hugging woofters are doing on a motoring website is beyond me
- Cyclists are all Tree hugging woofters
- The concept of anyone liking more than one thing at a time

I imagine the list of things beyond you is not short.
I ride a bike myself, I'm just not one of them helmet wearing lycra clad numptys that normal people laugh at

OK, first off, vandalism / criminal damage / whatever is not excusable.

That out of the way, parking where you did, in the full knowledge that it is illegal, is dumb. Effectively, by putting your vehicle there, you are forcing a group of cyclists to move into the opposing flow of traffic in what is otherwise a one-way street, putting them in unnecessary danger. It's pointless comparing the sizes of the rules each one of you has broken - both you and the cyclist were in the wrong, so chalk it up to experience and try your best not to do something that cyclists (aka people) might find annoying.

Having looked at the links, it isnt a one way street, its only had the entrance stopped up at one end.
The car ( or van ) on google is parked at the end of the stopped up bit on what looks like a short length of double yellows left over from before the stopping up (although that's no excuse loading unloading would be)
The rest of the street has cars along it so the cyclist would have moved out for them anyway.

It sounds like he got out of bed the wrong side and took it out on OPs car

Would you wear ice skates to play football in? No, you thick , so why would you laugh at someone wearing the correct attire for their chosen sport/hobby.

I hear that five of the tree-hugging woofters run this bloody site. Garlick, Pheedbak, Matt Dell, Stuart and Dan Trent all cycle to the PH office fairly regularly and ride for fun after hours too.

Unbelievable eh? They should all be sacked...or maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge?

But, we wouldn't damage any cars and we are all very nice folk.

Who are you? Judge Dread?!

That is a wallyish post of the highest order!

I bet you were really chuffed with yourself as you wrote that but it has added nothing positive or relevant to the issue at hand.

Revenge on who?

A person going about their business, who has nothing to do with the idiot who lost it with the OP?

Please say you missed the winking or sarcastic smiley off your post.

Please don't soak me, I'll be wet enough as it is tonight, and I've not done anything to deserve it.

Why is it that a thread about cyclists brings all the morons out of the woodwork? Do those who are offended by cyclists wearing lycra head down to their local park on a Sunday morning to berate amateur footballers for having the temerity not to play soccer in their slippers?

Plenty of your/you're confusion and a smattering of "would of" and "could of" from the knuckle-draggers is always a pleasure to see and just confirms the idiocy.
