Chris,

That woeful show Wheeler Dealers on sky had one redeeming moment when they sourced a '69 Charger from the US and dragged it back. Sourcing it there would be half the fun and even with shipping, a half decent one appeared to be very attainable.

Delta...of course, an Evo2 or even better a Final Edition (for the Japanese market)... cloud9
It looks great, the epitome of evolution...
"Lads we need bigger wheels and brakes but they won't fit"
"Let's make the arches wider"
"Lads the modified engine doesn't fit"
"Let's put a bulge in the bonnet"
Love it... biggrin

Buy the best Integrale Evo II you can find and simply enjoy!

probably best decision i made carwise to buy one 18 months ago. Cannot ever see myself selling it as for me it has it all (heritage, looks, performance, driver involvement, hilarious ergonomics).

Failing that M3 CSL!

I guess next too the high revving petrols its a big contrast, my other cars are turbo petrol with a similar power band at the other end of the rev range (3.5k to 6.5k) so am pretty used to changing gear.
Recent trip across Europe avg speed 78 - avg mpg 36.5. Whilst an rs6 looks very tempting I think half the mpg might be painful, especially as the Tdi is quick enough 80% of the time
Having just made the monumentally illogical, but nonetheless fun, leap into a C63 AMG Performance Pack, I can sympathise with the surprisingly large number of rewards points you get courtesy of garages when you fill up. It's not just the fuel consumption that’s uncomfortable either...

How much are the Stratos and the road-version 037 in the UK?
They don't often turn-up for sale in the UK (especially the 037 Stradale).

I've seen examples of both Stratos and 037 Stradales advertised in Europe from between €100k to €300k, the Stratos appearing to be more "common" for want of a better word.

I've also been told that the 037 Stradale, although still in my top 3 wish-list, has a far smaller supercharger than the works cars which leaves it rather underwhelming to drive. That came from someone that has driven a lot of Lancias, hard.

Likewise for the S4 Stradale, Walkers had a red one and a silver one over the past 6 or so years. I think they were advertised for around €160k. Nice, but not pretty like the 037

What about something chic like a Fiat Dino? (A Spider of course, the coupe looks rather choddy in comparison).

Fiat Dino, not Ferrari... although the Ferrari would also do.

I would like to put a case for the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 it is practical, fast and everything that Mercedes stood for in the 70's.

Chris I know you liked the Singer Porsche last year. Well Mechatronik.de do a similar version with the 70's Mercedes-Benz. Using all Mercedes parts they put the M156 AMG 6.3 V8, gearbox, ABS and other newer parts which you love into an old 70's 280SE 3.5, But they keep all of the tactile 70's stuff.

I don't like it (the Fiat) so I posted a Ferrari 365 (cheaper than the Dino 246 you're thinking about and much more powerful with a real engine [i.e. a V12]).

i sent the following quote to a friend who regularly refers to me as a "car we" for having a penchant for anything mildly interesting;

"As you can see, my thought process is well organised and I have a solid strategy for 2013 that involves wanting, either selectively or simultaneously, pretty much every interesting car on sale, and not having the resources to do much about it.
So 2013 is just like 2012 – which was the same as the previous 10 new years. I wouldn’t have it any other way."

She thought it was a blog i started, not sure if she found it refreshing or scary that there are other people out the who think the same way!!!
