I agree, 1600kg is 400kg too much IMO.
The Griffith 500 weighed 1060kg apparently. Where does the majority of that difference come from?
The car companies cant win, safety requirements plus the minute they strip some of the heavy crap out people start monaing it doesnt have enough "Toys", one simply cant do without air conditioning or that the standard hifi only has 8 speakers, you need the 14 speaker option, the 18 inch wheels look a bit small, best go for the 20 inch option, we need to either decide its about the drive or its about showing off and looking good, cant do that can we, most cars alloys ride worse, are heavier and taller than the supposedly un-sporty steel wheel. The Griffith 500 weighed 1060kg apparently. Where does the majority of that difference come from?

Firstly, the Griffith weighed only 1060kg in the TVR brochure, but more in reality. Secondly it has no roof, would fold up like a crisp packet in a modern NCAP test, has no rollover protection whatsoever resulting in decapitation, has hardly any equipment in comparison, and also by today's standards has appalling torsional rigidity. The Griffith 500 weighed 1060kg apparently. I really like it!!!!
The price will be a major deciding factor, i mean it will have to be around 30k!
If the price can be 30k, and the new deals are as good as the BMW ones at o% finance and large dealer contribution.
Then i would actually buy this intead of the M3.
Half the price effectivly!
The more i think about it, the more i want it!!!

There's no way on earth this will be remotelely near £30K. Test drove the std 370Z last summer and can echo the point about the fat middle weight feel with a very lazy throttle. No delicacy about it at all. Considering BMW were getting 343bhp out of their 3.2l na 12 years ago, I am somewhet bewildered why NISMO can now only just get the same from a 3.7l. Fuel consumption is worse too.The price will be a major deciding factor, i mean it will have to be around 30k!

In terms of the looks though, I have to say I love it.
With regards to weight, the 370z is actually slightly lighter than the 350z, and smaller.
It's not going to be under £30k- that's laughable as the base car is that already and would mean it would be near competing with the GT86 etc which is a lower-spec car in all respects.
With regards the weight, it's where it is which is important. It's 51/49 front/ rear largely due to the engine sitting behind the front axle (actually making it front-mid engined). Compare that distribution to that of an exige for example (previosuly owned) which is 38/62 and you get at least an idea of how balanced the thing is to drive. IMHO the engine is an absolute peach- admittedly after you've added some breathing mods to get the sound right (come on pistonheads, you cant expect the 40/50 somethings who can actually afford to buy new cars at the moment and the EU regs people to put up with huge amounts of engine noise).
Of course on this car all this will have been done for you, and if it's anything like my current nismo system will sound absolutely spot on.

hmmm, why would you opt for this when a Cayman R with 13k on the clock (and from an OPC so probably 6k over private) is going for sub £45k?!
Cayman R every day for me!
Here we go again, compare a new car with a used car. I agree, given the choice I'd probably go for the Cayman, but if everyone did that no one would produce new cars, would they?Cayman R every day for me!
Some people just want to have a new car that no-one else has owned, no matter how 'silly' that is in terms of value.

And also, there is still no pricing but Nismo aren't cheap and i'd be willing to bet it will be north of £40K! Cayman R new is £50k which you could potentially deal by the time the Nissan hits the streets.
Happy to compare 'new to new' if that makes you feel better!;)
Wasn't too taken with the looks of the standard 370Z but this looks awesome. However an extra 16bhp seems hardly worth the effort, especially since the extra body addenda will probably rob a lot of that in increased weight.
The 370Z really needs to be lighter rather than have more power anyway and I'd have preferred that Nismo concentrated on that instead tbh, 1600kg is far too heavy for a two seater sports car.
Still if it's only a £5k premium over the standard car as it is abroad then it might just be worth the cost difference but somehow I doubt it, by the time we get the "UK tax" added to it it will probably be twice that.

Short and simple answer is emissions....any of the high lift cam engines from that era are now dead..VTEC's...M series...even Nissan own NeoVVL...all dead and buried unfortunately In terms of the looks though, I have to say I love it.

It's not a 'new' car though is it?! It's a 'riced' up version of the 370Z!
Yes it is, its brand new. As in 0 miles. Unlike the Cayman you're comparing it to which has 13,000 miles on the clock...- sigh* read all of my post, i deal with new to new comparison ie 0 miles at the end.
