Erm, am I missing something? It looks like a slightler longer MP4 to me,
It's actually almost identical in dimensions to the MP4-12C (which probably isn't surprising). That makes it really quite small, it's almost 2cm shorter and 3cm narrower than a Ferrari 458 for example. In fact it's actually 10cm shorter than a new 3-series BMW (and only 10cm wider, which maybe shows how big the BMW is more than anything else...).kambites said:
Hmm, it looks and sounds pretty much like any other modern supercar to me. I'm sure it'll have very impressive numbers, but I don't really see what all the fuss is about.
Agreed, it sounds ok I guess, nothing compared to a Zonda though. I'm yet to be convinced by the looks too.DanielSan said:
It's a supercar, practicality is a long way down the list compared to performance and aerodynamics. Actually come to think of it, how can that be the first thing that even came into your head??
It looks like Mclaren have yet again designed something that looks perfect, sounds amazing and no doubt goes like the starship enterprise.
I looked at it and thought it would annoy me immensely if I was driving, I expect it will be more 'active' on the finished car though. I will admit there wont be much that can stay with it (and it might have really good door mirrors) but if the new enzo or the 918 have a better driver on board and come up behind, it would be nice to see them coming It looks like Mclaren have yet again designed something that looks perfect, sounds amazing and no doubt goes like the starship enterprise.

The P1 is a fair bit longer than a 12C, mostly at the back, so I'd be suprised if it's shorter than a 458.f328nvl said:
Better video than the frankly wierd one I got sent by McClaren marketing Dept today, (which they seem to have almost immediately changed for the one i the article.)
The original, below, was about lights in wind tunnel and how they made their previous video, presumably made by the geeks, geeks!

Of all these hypercard, so far, I still think the SSC Tuatara is by far the most interesting looking .
Totally agree. The blacked out panels on the Maclaren make it look like a misconceived kit car. The body form looked miles better in the stealth version in the video - nice rear wing/body lines and the nose is hugely improved when it is all one colour.
For anyone that's interested, the rolling paragraph at 1:00 reads, "Headquartered in Italy, Pirelli has recently become the exclusive tire technology partner to McLaren Automotive. The close collaboration between Pirelli and McLaren guarantees the development of performance tires tailored on the specific needs of each single car model, and enables drivers to have..."
Its a lovely designed car, but one i will reserve final judgement on until i see one on the road, you can never really judge a cars real presence at a show. Always thought the 12c was a but beige until i saw one on the road.
Something has been festering in my mind for a little while, which then isnt helped by vids like these.
My question is this, what causes these new generation Hyper Cars (Aventador and Mc P1 so far) to spew Blue flames from the exhaust under power, unlike normal exhaust flames on over run.
I would take a guess that they run really short and thin exhausts which in turn get very hot, but i would have thought the exhaust gasses would be moving too fast to be able to ignite in this fashion.... anyone got any insight into the hows and whys?

Have you ever seen star wars its the Millennium Falcon and if you remove the aerodynamics and adjust the rear wing it will do moon tripsSomething has been festering in my mind for a little while, which then isnt helped by vids like these.
