Cheers Barbon.

Mountain Rescue guys are here checking everyone is OK.
Did you note which MR team? Probably not the first thing on your mind, but interested if you know.

Glad you got home safe and hope you're going to be having a deserved day of doing absolutely nothing! Mrs Barbon Star finally got home at about 4am after ditching the car on a park and walking the rest of way.

Lancashire County Council have already received a strongly worded email! Really piss poor planning on their part IMO. Will be spending the morning digging out a car and trying to avoid mongs who's are incapable of driving snow, joy!

Like your missus who obviously couldnt drive home wink

I fail to see how this is the councils fault tbh, its weather, it happens. The gritters were out, so what more could they do?

Even in Alpine countries they cant control the weather, only difference is that cars have winter tyres and they are better at driving through it, so life continues. Here in the UK we arn't set up for it.

Bllody Hell!

Glad I missed all that lot. I travelled from J8 --> J44 earlier in the day, The snow was just starting, I did not think it would end up like that!

Glad you made it safe OP.

I didnt see one grittier last night or this morning.

Made driving around in the TVR interesting! I was on sheet ice at one point and a FFRR came shooting past me, amazing tools in the cold. And a proper tool driving it!

Looks like a nightmare. Was it drivable if you were sensible i.e. was it caused by someone up front getting stuck and the inevitable tailback?

It's brilliant sunshine and clear roads in Brighton, can't vouch for the route further north...

Never seen snow like it, I live just up the road from that junction, glad everyone's ok.

Also thanks to the guys that gave me push this morning, my Mgf is a bugger in the snow. To the woman who was mouthing off saying I'd hit her car (which I was a couple of feet away from). Well do one...

Wow! I was watching last night as you were sat there! What time did you make it back?

It looked truly horrendous! The one thing that did seem crazy was the way the trucks blocked off the whole motorway; surely they should have been trying to stay in lane 1&2? (awaits flaming from truck drivers everywhere!)

They probably were, the back of the unit just keeps sliding down any slight gradient until you either find some grip or run out of road. Motorways always dip to one side for water run off, so you just slide that way.

What is the reason, if there is one, why the trucks are parked as they are?

That really is quite a coincidence, isnt it?
