I would say that this thread proves that there are many who are a bit insecure about their own sexuality, especially if they are so worried about what people think if they drove a 500/mini etc.
So by that reasoning the most secure people are men in skirts and womens underwear, since its more comfortable shirley?
Exactly the point I was making.

If these people were so "secure" they are happy to drive any girly car then what stops them wearing Womens clothes?

It was the standard 500 that inspired me to get my Abarth. My sister has a 1.2 Pop and it's good fun to drive and great interior, economical and spacious for such a tiny car. I really want a shot in a twin air. Of course the Abarth is a total different kettle of fish compared to the standard 500's

I really like the MINI for that reason. It's perceived as a girly car so your average "car enthusiast" with one hand at the top of the wheel and fog lights permanently on usually gets a shock when said girly car out corners him even though he is scaring himself at 6/10ths.

So if you are so "secure" about your sexuality, what stops you from putting on a pretty frock from time to time?

Nothing to do with feeling a bit silly wearing it or thinking other people might think you look a bit silly?

By your reasoning you must just be a bit "insecure about your sexuality" if its not something you would do.

Personally I am just not into girly things, nothing to do with my sexuality.

So the Ford Fiestas listed in your profile weren't actually yours then?

And the Volvo belongs to your dad?

Ford fiestas are VERY common among young lads, don`t look particularly cute or fashionable. Totally normal car to see an 18 year old of any sex drive.

And why would the Volvo belong to my dad? I am a dad.

You really are clutching at straws now attempting to bring my car history into this.

Isn't it time you moved on from this? It's not coming across very well...

Thank you smile

Edit:

Garlick is right.

This is dull....

But, hey ho... Haters gonna hate.

I am now off to the shop for a bottle of Vodka so that i can drown my sorrows of being wrong, in my Fiat 500.

Now, where did i put my new dress...

There's a bit of the "big guy, small car" syndrome about them.

Yes. There are enough Smart Cars around here to make the 500 OK.

Again with the insecurity arguement. I dont care what others think of what I drive, I DO have preferences though - and the Fiat 500 seems to fill a whole chart of faux-pas`s when it comes to what constitutes a bloke car wink

Why is it suddenly wrong to be concious about what image you convey?
Most of us would rather be seen in a Defender than a Suzuki cappuchino if someone was taking a business picture, wouldnt they wink
And again, you seem obsessed with whatever other people's perceptions are, why is it so important to you?

I like both Defenders and Cappuccinios, both good cars for what they are meant to do, significant experience of both, here, and in Japan.

If the company I work for (£12Bn T/O, not sure why I'm saying that) for some reason took a picture of me in a Cappuccinio, would I worry?

Nah.

Self esteem issues?

I've just downsized to a Fiat 500 as looking to save some serious coin over the next few years. Probably looks a little odd as I'm 6'2" and 16 stone so don't even look like I should fit in it. I absolutely bloody love it and after just 2000 miles can already see it being a keeper until it dies!

I like the colour - is it tech house grey? How comfortable do you find the seats?

Bought a 500 Abarth for me indoors smile Love it, don't give a flying hoot what anyone thinks. It's mine, for me, no one else. Ex Impreza(s) owner for 10 years and the Abarth is almost as much fun to drive (less the power and burble, of course).

It's a girls car

Except by all accounts it's not more comfortable.

Women's underwear certainly doesn't look fking comfortable!! And mmmm, a lovely flimsy skirt when it's -1 degrees, lovely. That'll be warm. Perhaps combine it with a crop top?

If ever there was something designed for aesthetics over comfort, it tends to be women's clothing.

Really don't think your argument works.

Considering I very very rarely wear shorts, it's highly unlikely. They're not great for wallets, keys, cash, phone etc.

Which is why girls end up carrying bags *everywhere*. Practical they certainly ain't - again it's all about looks. Which is something I'm certainly happy about!

It's not something I'll be joining in though.

To all those on here saying certain cars are "girls cars", when the OH says "hold my handbag while...." wouild it bother you to be seen in public carrying one? It didnt me until a left footed friend pointed out the wifes one didnt match my shoes. (Well TBH it still doesnt bother me, most recently quite a posh one while she used both hands and elbows at the buffet on Saturday.)
I might just go out and buy an Arbath 500 as a result of this thread.
