Takes some beating for a standard off the shelf wheel I feel.

Love deep dish wheels. Apart from the Fuchs, Ronal and BBS designs, google Campagnolo and Technomagnesio they made loads. ISTR those Ferrari/Startos wheels are a Campagnolo design originally. The only car I have had with such wheels was a 1984 Saab 900 which came from the factory with odd looking Tecnomagnesio wheels (actually very heavy despite the name).

Stunning pic Housey - can still remember painting those wheels on the old Airfix kit ;-)

Flying the flag for the Japanese but not necessarily catering for everyone's taste, I'd like to go so far as to say that the Advan SAR3 is a classic...

Not necessarily evocative of the classic motorsport that fires the imagination of your average home counties, mod-phobic teutonophile but definitely looks right on some far-east machinery.

My '2 scoots around on SSR Longchamp XR4Zs which the previous owner installed and I've grown to like. Not the prettiest wheel, but it suits the car...

In which form of motorsport does this compete?

It's a wheel popular with drifters, can't find any helpful pictures but here are some cars going sideways and making smoke competitively.

But if you really want to be a pedant, the title of the article/thread states "... on a race car" and I suppose drifting isn't racing so I humbly apologise to you all and will get my coat immediately. However, I will be back later with pictures of cool SuperGT cars.

This gets my vote;

'66 Eagle-Weslake - aesthetic of car/wheel combination hard to beat IMO ...

..... and you should see the engine!

For me it's the early 80's Group 5 cars that have the nicest wheels on them. Many examples are already posted like the BMW 320 / BMW M1 and Porsche 935 but for me it must be those cars that entered the japanese based Fuji Silhouette Cup that take the cake. Many nice ones but especially the Silvia with them Hoshino deep dishes on it.

Volk Racing CE28 look pretty awesome

I noticed Watanabe's have been mentioned earlier but they are just too cool to only be posted once

Not a big fan of "fan" alloys although they do have a purpose.

I love all the euro stuff posted but I think the Japs have the deep dish rim/stance sussed . Least we forget the 787B Le mans winning car . Rays / Mazdaspeed on those race cars are seriously deep dish rears ..... fabulous !
