That....Couple of summers back there was one regularly used round our way and by golly there is nothing like it.P
An SLR on full chat is without doubt the worlds greatest sound. Ranks above an F1 motor for me.
Personally love the looks and is right at the top of my lottery garage list.... Mind you looking at the prices these days w'ere not necessarily talking lottery any more
A subject discussed a lot recently and mentioned on Top Gear this has to be one of those cars that will appreciate in value, i think they'll drop slightly further for a couple of years then zoom up, their rarity will help see to this.
Possibly a bit of a marmite car but in the metal these are really imposing - I live near MB World and when one of these zooms up behind you, you know about it.

Here's one with only 2,700 miles on... About half price?

Its not a bad supercar, its just a different flavour of supercar, some people like apple juice, some like orange juice. Personally the older I get, the more I appreciate the qualities of a great GT.
Still want an Aventador Roadster based at my (imaginary) alpine home. When I win Euromillions, I'll just buy both

I beleive that you have to stick with MB to service as the parts are not available for any indi to do work on them, so even an oil filter change is not possible!
Plus the price of any part is prohibitive.
Many on the market (outside of MB) will have very sparse service book entries I suspect!

Ok SL55 AMG is a V8 but surely the SL65 AMG of the same era is more of a comparison. I have owned an SL55 pace car version and now own a 65. The 65 would give the Mclaren a real run for its money 211 mph (derestricted) and 11.9 quarter mile. I love the 65 and wish I could afford the new one circa £200,000. At around £38 - £40,000 a 2004/2006 65 is in my view a bargain, if you can find one. The running costs are not cheap but certainly not SLR money.

Have you seen what other cars she has owned? All of which were standard:
Paris Hilton could be a bigger petrol head than you and I, nobody actually knows
Someone actually defending that vapid non-person Paris Hilton and her taste in cars?? LOL now I really have heard it all. Thanks, you've made me laugh. This is the reason why I love Pistonheads.- Ferrari 360
- Ferrari Cali
- RR Ghost
- Lexus LFA etc

Someone else brought her up in an LFA thread recently and I don't understand it. Would you not buy a McLaren F1 because Wyclef Jean owned one? Or that bloke ragging his round with the shrieking wife? Or the guy who owned his via fraudulent enterprise? How about the one who killed himself and his passengers?Nah, I think you'd still have one. If you wanted a unique car you could have one built, but seeing as plenty of supercars are owned by not-very-nice-people I would suggest it's a bit rich to bring up someone who is at worst airhead as a reason to dislike a car...

To be honest the comment was a bit of a tongue in cheek stab at the type of owner this car was really designed for but I am amused that people seem to have taken it to heart. Who knew Paris had so many fans? (probably as a result of her video I suspect ).Nah, I think you'd still have one. I just find it weird judging someone's personality based on their car, then flipping it round to say that all owners must be the same. It's nonsensical and always will be. If it was a boulevard cruiser the engine wouldn't be mid-mounted, it wouldn't be supercharged, wouldn't sound, go or grip like it does, would have been made more economically, etc. Yes it can be used everyday but that doesn't mean it isn't a 'proper' supercar, it's more impressive that it has such a breadth of talent.

Fair enough, putting aside Ms Hilton's dubious charms they are valid enough points. However to me, making a hypercar "every day" usable wouldn't be that high on the list of priorities for what I want in a hypercar but strangely enough it seems other people seem to rate this as a highly important factor. If I were in a lucky position to afford a hypercar, first and foremost I'd want it to thrill me and set my pants on fire and feel like it was going to rip my head off when I got in and the SLR just does't do that for me I'm afraid so saying "oh but it's designed so that can you can drive it to the shops" is something the aforementioned Ms Hilton would be more interested in, not I.

But when you are actually in a position to buy such a car, actually being able to use it is quite an important factor! Wanting to, perhaps even more so.If I were in a lucky position to afford a hypercar, first and foremost I'd want it to thrill me and set my pants on fire and feel like it was going to rip my head off when I got in and the SLR just does't do that for me I'm afraid so saying "oh but it's designed so that can you can drive it to the shops" is something the aforementioned Ms Hilton would be more interested in, not I.

Again where you in such a position you'd have plenty of other cars for day to day use. I don't know, perhaps when you have millions your priorities change but I'd still like to think that if I were in that situation I'd still want my hypercar\s to feel special and be a thrill ride. I just don't see the point of a "sensible" hypercar I'm afraid.Guvernator said:
