Perhaps you should have a chat with those people..

That hat looks eerily familiar... seen it somewhere I know I have...

You'll never understand how disappointed I was when I scrolled down and realised you had cropped that picture.

On the subject of the cars, even when I don't like the end result still love the concept of people going to these extreme lenghts to get their "perfect car". At the end of the day it's so subjective and personal there is no point in questioning it IMHO.

If people didn't go to these lengths we would never have gotten this

Although i'm sure a few posters would still rather have a standard Enzo.

Alfa looks great, much improvement over the bloated 8C.

The new Disco Volante looks absolutely amazing - a perfect successor to the original

I suppose it's a shame you'd have to carve-up an 8C to create one, but if I had an 8C and the necessary £££££s, I think I'd go for it. Not only is the DV even better looking than the 8C, I've a feeling the few DVs that are made will be worth a fortune in the future.

...and talking of the Disco Volante, have a look at the original hardtop version from 1952

Wonder where Jaguar / Malcolm Sayer got the original idea for the E-Type.....?

It has zero presence on the road though, the 8C is the epitome of a car that works as a poster but disappoints in the flesh.

Urrghhh.
Disco Volante is Disgusting Volante. I kind of like the retro appeal, and the 'hark back to the 50s' nostalgia tip they're trying to attain...But, they just failed at it miserably.

Give me an 8C, i'll come up with something that looks and goes better, and it wouldn't look like that!

The 300 though - yum yum!

So you don't think the 8C is a good looking car?

The DV should be its own model.

It is very nice looking, but it looks nothing like its host, and it is a shame to be cutting up 8c's.

No, it looks great. But I meant that by and large, harking back with retro designs is becoming more common, whilst "modern" designs are simultaneously more and more gopping (see the new a class, any audi, new fiesta etc etc). This would seem to suggest that the only way people can make a decent looking car any more is to take lessons from the past

So out of all the cars you could decide to rebody, they chose one of the unequivocally most beautifull but dynamically not so competent as it's peers?

Doesn't this make about as much sense as an afla arna? Wouldn't using an R8 as a base make a more financially viable product? Or a fezz, maser, lambo, any number of faster depreciating and easily more obtainable cars in this class?
