It was a unique car as far as I know.
The install around that climatronic panel looks pretty OEM too. Either came from the factory like that, or someone spent a long time installing that. I remember a few years back, someone made a time lapse video of a DIY swap from standard air vents and controls to Climatronic. They bought every single bit, wire, sensor, control etc etc from VW and did the swap themselves. I'm sure it was on youtube or 'owt nbetts said:

Climatronic was never an option (neither were the Polo GTi alloys!) - I think that was a very (very) rare special order?
It was a unique car as far as I know.Best he could come up with was that it was somehow sourced from another RHD country.

I've had mine from new, in Grey Anthracite, since March 2004. Currently on 90k and I will never sell. I love it.
Dynamically a similar era 106GTI or Cooper S has it licked, but its decent enough and its always had that special feel.
They do fetch strong money, but they were pricey to begin with. Mine was 14k with aircon and the pearl paint in 2004 and thats before you started adding leather.
Not sure if this pic will work, as its from my twitter...
My cars been a total work horse, I've been all over Europe in it, its done house moves (from France once), airport pick ups, taken me to job interviews, taken the cats to the vets, had a load of garden waste dumped in the back, transported all the material needed for our wedding, hen dos and done all the other things life throws at you. In short, its part of the family.
Its only let me down once in the nearly 9 years I've owned it.
Had a Mk1 Golf Gti ages ago and this is about the only other VW hot hatch I've ever wanted. Love the way they got stuffDynamically a similar era 106GTI or Cooper S has it licked, but its decent enough and its always had that special feel.

These great little cars, had one as my 2nd car at 18 but loved it as though it was first car. Bought by more luck than judgement at the time but had super rare colour concept interior, that wasn't offered on the Lupo GTi, yet I had to original invoice for the car that marked the option heated leather (blue), but I suppose when the 1st owner was from Kennsington what do you expect.
Those seats!!!!!!AndyWoodall said:

Sadly mine met an untimely end, those expensive body panels and Xenon lamps mean repair costs are high and mine was written off.
Such a great fun car, VW really went to town on it and it was great fun to drive and own. Mine was a 6sp in Moon Silver, prob. quite a rare combination as most 6sp were Reflex Silver I think. Lovely pics on this thread, here's some of mine
