RE: SOTW: Honda Civic VTI Aerodeck
Discussion
I have a pirates black Aerodeck VTi and I have done the best part 50k in mine over the last 5 years, *touches wood*, it has been fiercely reliable, I regularly enjoy the upper regions of the rev range and for two years it did very well as a family car with three kids. The handling wasn't all that when I got it, mainly due to Honda not fitting a rear anti-roll bar, I remedied this with the addition of an MG ZS 180 rear anti-roll bar. That transformed it really, certainly capable of raising a smile for me. Bad points, the boot is a bit of a joke really, thanks to wide arches to accommodate the multi link rear suspension, motorway cruising is not its forte and fuel consumption, 33mpg is the best I've managed.

Just bought the hatchback version and had an aerodeck previously, very good cars for not alot of money. The Aerodeck has a surprsing amount of room, I ran many tip runs in mine. I cannot deny it is quite ugly and shares quite a few Rover parts
My latest one, 130,000 miles, £800:
That is exactly the same as the one I had. T***LPV probably scrapped by now.My latest one, 130,000 miles, £800:

The ONLY thing MB Civics are good for is breaking.
Completely different to the EK (1.6 VTi) in that the chassis is shared with the Rover 45.
I'll have wishbones all round on an EK4 please.
How wrong you are.Completely different to the EK (1.6 VTi) in that the chassis is shared with the Rover 45.

They're on a completely different floorpan too.
MB6:
Different floorplan, obviously. Suspension is the same though.
That should be pointed out, it is much the same suspension as fitted to the hallowed DC2 ITR (softer springs and dampers obviously). With an LSD and only 20bhp less too. In an estate car that looks like something your grandad would drive.

I have an MB Civic and while it is not the last word as a drivers car, it has been a very good car to own for the last decade. Only on Tuesday it did 400 motorway miles (fingers crossed on not receiving any letters in the post soon..) all completely without fuss. At 105k it's hardly run in. Completely different to the EK (1.6 VTi) in that the chassis is shared with the Rover 45.

To clarify, These (MB/MA/MC) Civic's are based on the 1992-1995 Asian Market Honda Domani, which like all Civic's + Integra's (+CRX etc.) - are
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Domani
So rather close to DC2 Integra, based on the slightly older level of subframes/upper wishbones etc. than the EK series (EK3/4/9/EJ9) Zero "copied" or "Rover" content unlike the later Rover MGs with a different front-end treatment, different subframes and McPherson strut (keeping the Honda semi-trailing arm / double wishbone rear)...

This is a very unimaginative shed. It's not very interesting and it's a cheap japanese car. You expect them to be under a grand. Plus with the high mileage there must be plenty of cars around that are more interesting for less money.
Even the MR2 last week had done stratospheric miles and had nasty wheels. I've seen nicer ones for under a grand.
Tut tut SOTW, tut tut. The best motoring feature on the 'net is rapidly becoming an afterthought for the PH massive. Shame on you.

I quite like this an alternative the endless stream of German barge that SOTW usually is. Now that is I imaginative!
If its so rubbish, go forth and find a better fast estate...that's NOT Geman!

Haaaaaawwwww YEAHHhhhhh.....http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
2 liter...16 valves...Sport.
It's got rear suspension from a 300ZX and a few of the screws were on the R34 Skyline GTR.
Any powerfully build director would be mad to choose a Cayenne over one of these wagon beasts!
