God I want that.

I wonder if there will be a manual RS...
Spot on that would definately make a whole lot of sense

If its only got 2 pedals then its not a proper GT3 because ur not driving properly unless you've got 3 pedals to play with. This is a hammerblow for real drivers

You can do that on my S3, and on my old Polo GTI, so I can't see why you couldn't on this. It's a lot better to use the paddles imo.
Do they have a clutch as well for the downshifts?

Did I read that correctly, that you can use the gear stick like a sequential shifter? That'll feel like a proper Cup Car Racer!
As long as its the proper way round. Ie back to go up and forward to go down!
Don't sequential shifters still rely on the driver using a foot clutch as oppose to an automatic clutch??
Most race boxes are flat up shifts and clutch on the way down iirc
I would love to think it would work something like this, but probably not, but it would be amazing to have the paddles to just waft about with when driving sensibly, then having some sort of set up like that for when you're giving it some or on track. You still get a lot more involvement that a fully automatic.

Yes, but the Gearbox is backwards.

In a racing car they pull back to go up the box, and forward to go down the box. So do cars have forwards for up, and back for down?

Massive speculation. Must-have-the-discipline-to-not-get-excited-by-idle-forecasting.

I'm turning off my computer before I start thinking about 991 RS colour schemes and whether I should get matching track day overalls.

F1 drivers aren't really driving I suppose.

Lewis Hamilton got his Zonda with a manual 'box -- good man.

No manual in the GT3 completely rules it out for me. Shame.

Also, the Cup car still uses the Mezger engine. Can't help but wonder why...

Perfect stance, 9k red line, no doubt a sublime noise, no doubt sublime handling... So. Much. Want.

I understand the manual vs PDK box comments, but given Porsche's legacy in consistently producing amazing drivers cars I doubt they'll release something that doesn't deliver on every level.

I can't wait to see the 1st reviews.

Porsches have never looked aggressive though, even the LeMans 917s and 997 cup cars are hardly aggressive.

True, but it makes more sense that way due to the position of the gearstick. In a racing car they're pretty much on the dash, in a road car they're at the side of you. Or that's why I'm guessing they did it?

I was really looking forward to the new GT3 and have only one word to say after reading the entire press release:

Disappointed.

Some years ago I had a Alfa 156 Selespeed, which was push to go up and pull to go down. I had the car for 4 years and it never felt right that way round... should be pull to go up and push to go down.

Nice car, not a GT3 though. No manual box and an S-class rivalling interior is a few steps backwards in my book.

Depends on how it's set up and the box. Ours is like the above (manual sequential with flat up shifts). However if we fitted paddles to it, the system sorts the down shifts also.

They still have a clutch, it's on the steering wheel ;-)
