Stunning looking car, it's going to be great despite the internet racing drivers moaning on about a steering wheel/manual brakes if you want that combo there are plenty of Porsches in the classifieds.

Fixed for the upcoming GT3 2018.

I'm sure this has been said before, but never mind whether it's manual/pdk. There must be very few drivers capable (talent wise or finacially) of driving one of these anywhere near flat out round a circuit never mind on the road. They just have too much grip/power and the price of crashing is too high.

I've never seen a GT3 or any other 'hypercar' driven anywhere near the cars limits on a trackday (but then nothing generally is) . 'Ring times are meaningless if they can only be achieved by former WRC Champs.

Impressive technology, but for any normal person a bottom of the range Boxster must realistically be more fun from a purely driving point of view, although granted this will feel more 'special' and get you noticed.

"Sub 100-millisecond shifts are available in manual mode"

That's a classic. 100 milliseconds sound so much more impressive (and quicker) than 0.1 seconds or a tenth of a second.
sounds slow when smg 2 was shifting in 80ms over 10 years ago...
Must be inaccurate, SMG II on the e46 M3 was 80ms, the DSG boxes are much faster.

Since when has the GTR been a GT3 rival? confused I'd compare it to a Turbo.

This car should be incredible. I too mourn the end of the manual, but it was inevitable I guess. PDK is faster and they cannot just ignore that. I just hope the changes they have made to it to make it more sequential like and mechanical.

The engine? It has a lot to prove so let's see, but the fact is its not the engine in the race car and that's unfortunate. That Motorsport link is very important too many.

Andreas comes across very enthusiastic in the interview and I doubt he has overseen the design of a pup.

I see the Porsche fanboys are out in force...'looks fantastic'? For £100K + I don't think so; the interior is very erm, dim. Not getting very excited by this at all. PDK, four wheel steering...why and why?

GT-R will still kicks it's ass!

This is not a true gt3 no manual gearbox option is terrible.
The whole point of a gt3 is the driver input should be max.

All the great 911s are the one's that are a bit harder to master &
therefore more fulfilling when you do learn how to drive them properly..

Going quicker than the last model around the ring isn't everything
enjoying it more than the last one is..

It does look immense tho'
Mmmmm F1- paddles, touring cars sequential, Cup cars -sequential, all racers? Whats to master, you either can or can't and if you can why do you need to prove it to yourself?

Revs to 9000rpm? Must sound fantastic, considering how lovely the standard 991s I've heard sound! Hmm, PDK only- the "purists" must be fuming!

the american market demands manuals, won't be long before we see one...at a premium

I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about the 4WS...that effects the "purity" more surely?

Why can't they offer a manual and a PDK?

Also it revs to 9000, peak power at 8250 though so 750 revs just to extend your willy. Woo.
Not quite. You don't want peak power at the rev limit as when you then change up a gear you would drop out of sweet spot. You ideally want to be accelerating through peak power.

It means all the same people who where on here slating the GTR for being an uninvolved computer will be defending porsche for the same approach.

And the same fanboys who will come to a porsche thread and make irrelevant comments about the gtr just to start some nonsense.

It's a stunning looking car and yes it's a pity there isn't a manual option. The two things that really got me though are - 4WS and the pimped up DFi unit. Had they choose to run this in the race cr, then fine - but they haven't. Why? That's something that we will only discover through time.

I hope they do have the engines right as it would be a pity for PH to be full of more Porsche Engine woes in years to come.

Is going to be one very expensive car once the Clubsport packs been added along with a few other bits. Glad to here that! Be a while longer before they start to push the early cars down!

4 wheel steer?

Wow. Where did that come from?

Honda Prelude 20 years ago boasted this. Then it disappears for two decades. Now its back in a GT3.

Why? What happened? Whats the engineering going on here?

The lancer evo had a mechanical system didn't it?

Is it me, or in this photo is it wearing Dunlop tyres?

http://www.evo.co.uk/front_website/gallery.php?id=...

That's only interesting because there's quite a close Michelin / Porsche connection...
