Using the same platform as the L405 saves considerable weight. This is bare shell weight not whole vehicle weight before our friend starts spewing bile about JLR 'lies, lies, lies' rolleyes
It's actually the compared weight between the old V8D and the new V6D which has broadly the same performance (0-60) as the old V8. The current V8D definitely isn't 300kg lighter than the old V8D, but it has considerably better performance.

Hopefully all Range Rovers will be better made, too many problems with suspension and gearbox once they get over 100,000 miles

Am I the only one who finds this particular (ab)use of the English language mightily annoying? The car is unveiled (verb), it does not have an unveil (noun). I don't know whether the abuse here is grammatically correct or not, but it's certainly not the accepted and conventional structure.

PH, you should be doing better.
The correct word would be "unveiling", which can serve as a noun.

Also, for extra Grammar Nazi points, the headline's a bit ghastly. It's the article readers who're being teased, not the Range Rover Sport.

Thank you, and I quite agree. Good spot.

Bad form that the forum regulars have to correct the work of the editorial staff.

Good work chaps.

Carry on.

Regarding the use of 'unveil', presumably these are the same people who send an invite rather than an invitation.

Land Rover has released a rather blurry image which tells us very little about its new Range Rover Sport, two weeks in advance of the car’s official unveil in New York.

No, you're not. It really gets on my tits.

Why do some writers think it's clever to ape incoherent and ignorant Americans?

What's next, trunk, fender, muffler, rotor, dude, cool..?

If this doesn't stop forthwith, I shall give Mr Heseltine a damn' good talking to...irked

The standard of journalism is nosediving, not just here, also in Autocar.

I don't care how little it weighs, there isn't anything sporty about that!

Similar power to the old 2.7 v6 diesel in a lighter vehicle with a million speed gearbox?

I like this policing of grammar. It's right proper.
