RE: Range Rover Sport teased

Interesting having a 206 next to it - it seems to be quite compact really. LR seem to be developing two quite distinct model streams. The Sport, Evoque and Range Rover on one side dealing with the urban SUV bit, and the Freelander, Discovery and new Defender on the other dealing with actually driving in a field.

Using the same platform as the L405 saves considerable weight. This is bare shell weight not whole vehicle weight before our friend starts spewing bile about JLR 'lies, lies, lies'
It's actually the compared weight between the old V8D and the new V6D which has broadly the same performance (0-60) as the old V8. The current V8D definitely isn't 300kg lighter than the old V8D, but it has considerably better performance.bigfatnick said:

I don't care how little it weighs, there isn't anything sporty about that!
Similar power to the old 2.7 v6 diesel in a lighter vehicle with a million speed gearbox?I don't care how little it weighs, there isn't anything sporty about that!

How on earth would you know if you have never even driven it. Talk about keyboard driver.
Errr...... Because I have had one on demo for the last 3 days, Hunters are trying to sell me one! so, no not a keyboard driver!!Trusty Steed said:
Will sell by the '000s. Not for me though! They are no where near as comfortable as the full phat L402

Like it or not, I think it will happen. I'm not sure many RRS will be sold witha IL4 2.0ltre, but I can certainly see it happening in the D5 when it eventually comes out. I don't care how little it weighs, there isn't anything sporty about that!

This does seem a tad confusing. I'm talking about the NEW RR Sport which Trusty claims to have driven!
I can absolutely, catagorically say that he hasn't driven the new Sport. He may well have driven a 2013MY (which confusingly means 2012) Sport, but the 2014 Sport won't be shown until New York, and press drives will be a good few months, at least, after that.RacerMike said:
