It has a warranty and is newer....kinda obvious really!

Anyone considering a 1M isn't going to be looking at a 10 year E46CS as an alternative.
Likewise, anyone looking for a CS probably actually wants a CS, and wouldn't consider a 1M on the basis of the price differential.
Actually CS was 2005-2006
And is available with BMW Insured Warranty
And comes with an award winning enginr

Since when has 45k miles been high miles on a 6year old car. I went into the ad expecting 80-100k.

I think the M3 CS is a lovely car, don't get me wrong, but I never considered one when I bought the 1M.

I know the 1M doesn't have the hand-built "M engine", but it's a cracker of a car. It's never going to sound like a M3 CS, but you know what, that really doesn't bother me. I'd take the option of more performance (torque / power) over sound.

Plus, the 1M has an award winning engine as well wink

The whole badge thing really doesn't matter. A nicely styled, innovative, and greatly engineered car is what counts.

- Same power, but more torque
- Easier to tune.
- Faster (especially when mapped)
- Newer
- Better fuel consumption (slightly)
This is what appeals to me so much about the 1M, my E92 M3 lacks a little bit of low down torque for me but this isn't a problem in the 1M, I just wish I could get on with the looks I've seen one in the metal & they look really aggressive which I love it's just the lights I struggle with a little.

The new M3/M4 promises to be awesome.

I don't get what all the fuss is about a 1M Coupe. What can this do that a M3 CS Coupe cannot.
BMW don't build second hand cars so it's quite important for them to keep selling new ones.

Select a lower gear and all will be well, don't need to rev it hard either biggrin.

As it is, around urban roads, up to 4500rpm in 2nd or 3rd (manual/dct) is more than sufficient to make rapid progress. I've travelled with mine, fully loaded with blokes and luggage, from London to halfway up Norway, and I have not found any lack of power for multi-vehicle overtakes, as long as you are in the right gear for your intended amount of acceleration. Obviously, on track, I just let it rip biggrin. Not saying more torque isn't nice but M did a good job in making the E9X M3 a well balanced car. It's already hard enough not to break traction with the existing power.

That said, the M2, M3 and M4 are going to be cracking cars.

The M3 is a superb allrounder & it is early days for me but this car puts a massive smile on my face like I could have never imagined smile the engine is so flexible as you have described & is more than capable of delivering the goods I just sometimes compare the torque to my old cerb unfairly!

The future M cars should be really exciting I can't wait to see what they can do.

Maybe to you personally, but it won't to a hell of a lot of others, incl me.

I'd have a used 1M over a CS anyday.

But say a M3 CS is at £15k and a 1M at £40k u cannot honestly say is worth £20-25k more

Suppose big plus point is u can have BMW Performance brakes I think and other Performance goodies on 1M

Defo rather have a nice M3 CSL over a 1M Coupe but sure they all be good fun whichever u choose
You're comparing apples to oranges.

Might as well compare a GT3RS 4.0 to an older version, and ask if price increase is worth it.

I had a new M3 CS back in 2006 and loved it, changed to an V8 M3 manual in 2007, and loved it more..... Now have a 1M and love it most! Difficult to explain why..... turbo torque helps, as does cartoon styling and rarity..... In truth they're all cracking cars..... If I had enough money and a big enough garage I'd have one of each and a Z3M Coupe and a Z4M Coupe...

I bet M2, M4 etc will all be great too......

Off to buy a lottery ticket!
