Looks like a normal Chimaera 400, but it has the engine of the mighty Griffith 500!

Quite fast.

There was a fantastic mk2 polo breadvan in hearing aid beige on some of the VW forums a few years ago that the guy fitted a G40 engine with a big turbo instead on the G-Lader into. Had to put it in 15" steelies (with hubcaps) to clear the brakes rather then the 13" standard ones but it still looked pretty normal- only giveaway was the intercooler peeking out through the bottom of the bumper smile
That was Gregg's! Think it's been sold since and is used in the VWRDC.

I seem to have the world's only T5 Volvo V70 XC. I bought it thinking it was the 2.4T with only 197bhp. But the insurance company insured it as a T5 (based on the numberplate) and it's the fastest 197bhp car I've ever driven.

I think a previous owner did a conversion or some major fettling, but as it was bought as a winter snotter and with barely any paperwork (cheap as chips) I haven't taken it to a Volvo dealer for them to look.

With a body that's seen a fair amount of countryside driving, including scraped body cladding where I caught a rock while offroad (car slipped on mud while driving across the face of a hill)and the look of a proper shed, it's great to see the look on a rep-mobile driver's face when you're leaving them standing before they've even had a chance to realise you're coming through.

Yeah, the lad that's running it now has taken a lot of weight out of it, though I don't think it's quite 190bhp at the moment from what he was saying - but the ETs are good thanks to the diet!

This is mine, 207bhp. Only got it back on the road this summer after an 18-month rebuild, but originally turbo'd it in 2006:

Love that Lupo too, but it needs some more subtle wheels!

3" single box system on it for the full 5pot soundtrack ,most fun thing I've built for a long time just needs some serious anti roll bars to keep it on the road

Until you spot the bonnet scoop and realise it's a turbo you mean?

Yes, that's a sleeper! Looks like a 1.0 or a 1.1. Nothing to give the game away - plastic bumpers and nice but plain steel wheels.

It's amazing how many people don't actually understand what a sleeper is, posting standard turbo cars etc that have been fettled. In the last thread about sleepers someone posted an RS6 FFS! rolleyes

I doubt most people would even know what it was regardless of the bonnet vent

Modern Subaru's only stick the scoops on their diesels nowadays just to confuse matters

I'll admit that it loses some of its sleeper qualities due to the green roof, bonnet, wheels and the holes drilled in the bumpers, but this stripped and tuned T5 S70 manual I just picked up for a laugh is ticking a lot of sleeper boxes for me right now!

It's just plain mental. It was sold as a Scooby destroyer and that seems to be the case hehe

I also have a phase 1 V70 T5 auto (the estate thing) and that can raise a few eyebrows with its 240 bhp as standard.

I was indeed!

First time down the strip for a good few years and it showed - my consistency was terrible. Best was a 13.4 @ 105mph, but my 60ft times were poor.

Yeah I had a look round it, was very nice.

We were testing our Dragster, only got two passes as it took forever to get a run!

Thanks! It was really busy - think I did 4 runs in total and called it a day at about 3pm, as queuing for 90 mins between runs isn't my idea of fun. When I first started going to RWYB back in the day you used to get so many runs in you'd get bored!
