Depends on the road conditions really. But who really cares about 0-60 times. It's the overtaking skills that the XF really scores in. I love it!!
The difference in 0-60 between the XFS and the 530d/535d will be the same for the 30-70mph measure as well, i.e the Jaguar will be once again out matched, so I'm not sure what you mean.

Maybe. Also depends how fresh out of the box the Jag is. Mine didn't feel fast until 4k on the clock. I also know which one looks miles better than the other. BMWs these days are just boring evolutions of Bangle's awful designs.

I am really not keen on the XF - for some reason, it just doesn't do it for me - hasn't quite got that panache about it.

This, however, I think is a vast improvement and a very good looking car indeed.

impressive performance and economy stats to boot...

What'choo talking 'bout Willis? 0-60 is a whole different thing to 30-70, surely?

I have an x-type estate, which I love. The only thing stopping me from buying one of these is that they don't seem to be available in AWD, which is essential for me. Other than that, this car looks stunning.

I purchased a new Sportbrake the other day - 2.2 litre in Carnelian red, the colour that appealed to my wife. The rest of the colour range is bland, even boring, by comparison. As others have said, it is a handsome beast, it is very nicely finished, offers excellent and practical space for carrying stuff and reveals much attention to detailed design. Our mileage is quite low, but so far it has easily exceeded 50mpg at 70mph on cruise control on the motorway. More local, runabout mileage looks to be around 40mpg.
It runs on 18" wheels - a test drive on 19" wheels was too harsh for us. Our old San Francisco phones used to pair OK with our other vehicle, a Freelander 2,but the Nexus 4 does not pair with the F2 and offers only limited connectivity on the XF (the Jaguar website offers a detailed guide to which phones will and will not work with their system) so it may be something to do with the N4 spec. So far we are very pleased with the Sportbrake.

Jaguar have confirmed they have no plans to add AWD to this model because, it is said, AWD did not sell well in the UK on their earlier estate car. I think they need to plan it for their eventual replacement.

Italian Racing Red, that's nicer wink

Not quite sure how you are getting 40mpg on local runabouts. I usually get about 45-48mpg on a long motorway run and about 32-35mpg going to and from work which is a 5 mile run through 2 towns and a 40mph A road.

@ Sixpackpert

I think you are right - I was over-optimistic about fuel economy on local runs. It looks closer to 35mpg on our, so far, limited mileage.
