We have this engine in the Cayenne, and I drove a mates Pan Diesel back from Silverstone the other day. Great car, and perfect for a 4 up long trip. I also drove a Pan Diesel round the Silverstone handling circuit and it was excellent - feels far more nimble than you would expect.
Looks are of course subjective, but you cant argue with the technical ability, the interiors and the range/mpg that these cars give in the real world.

I also had one as a courtesy car for a couple of days, Ive got to say I was really surprised and also blown away. I test drove the new TDV8 Cayenne and OK different type of vehicle but to replace my TDV8 Range Rover, but Im thinking seriously about the Panamera. Absolutely eats motorways and turns A and B roads into pleasant driving experience, excellent driving position and returns over 40 mpg. Not even think about the TDV8 Cayenne now.

Just the rear end ruins everything for me.I was given one for the day whilst my GT3 was being serviced
Wasn't expecting much of it, but was really impressed, drove nicely and went well enough for a daily driver couldn't really fault it.
I personally would rather something cheap to run around in every day so I can have a toy for the weekend but can see why people would buy the Panamera

I really don't get the dislike of the Panameras styling. It seems that some people have called it ugly and the sheep have followed.

I've just had one of these as a courtesy car for a week and was just blown away by it: lovely to drive, ridiculously economical (I struggled to get below 50mpg average in mixed driving on Highland roads), build quality is superb etc etc. And one of the great advantages of driving it is that you don't have to look at it! It is a bloody big car however: Having parked up at the roadside, I walked away, looked back and saw how much it was overhanging the parking bay in all directions - embarrassed by my bad parking, I went back to repark it, only to find that it WAS right up to the kerb... If it had 4WD and a bit more ground clearance, I'd be seriously considering one. But that would be a Cayenne
Christ I got a pug 107 when my car went in....No question about how it drives and I think everyone is sold on the inside. But you get the same sort of vibe from a chubby mid 90's 5 door hatchbacks, the lost years of the melted look.
A bit like driving a large French car - it looks ugly. But very comfortable inside.
You could just wait until they bring this out, then not have to explain how it looks on the outside.
