Good old pistonheads! people moaning that it too much power and then people moaning they could build a more powerfull version for less. Got to love it sometimes! smile

love that mid engined version of the mustang! Lovely bit of kit.
People are always going to complain though, so what if it has 1200hp, so what if it does xy and z that is irrelevant because it doesn't have soft touch plastics/leather, RHD, IRS or a German/Itallian badge. It's great that it isn't an M car or some fancy European hypercar, only comes in LHD and has a "prehistoric" axle setup which is actually pretty damn good and stonger than an IRS setup and heaps better on the dragstrip - which lets face it is where these cars are going to be used, asside from the sad gits that buy cars like this and keep them locked away only doing a few hundred miles a year in them.

Ohh and if my 2006 Mustang is anything to go by the build quality will be totally fine and it won't fall apart.

You could build or have built a more poweful Mustang for less money easily because you do pay a huge premium for the Shelby badge and the supposed "kudos" that comes with it.

Indeed, but generating the power was never really the issue with the big Bug, at least not to those people behind the scenes. The impressive part was that it is designed to do it for thousands and thousands of miles, year after year, without failing.

I believe the gearbox was designed by Ricardo in the UK.
Not really accurate given that Bugs aren't driven 1000's miles a year and if you can afford the servicing then of course it will last forever. The servicing on the mustang will be a fraction of a fraction of the Bug's running costs. It might interest you to know that my mates mustang is still on its first (unmodified) T56 getrag gearbox, standard fit to all GT500s. His problem has been more with overheating as the fluid paths through the engine simply aren't big enough but they're getting enlarged by some racing outfit in Dallas.

Below is a TT version that Nelosn Racing built. This would be the one i would have given the opertunity but a 2013 (or later) one with an ally block and Griggs racing chassis / suspenssion setup.

Yep, much more my type of car I have to say, most of the suspension parts on mine (well all of the rear) have been replaced with BMR parts, it has tipped it slightly more in favour of being a drag strip car now the top link and Panhard brace have been replaced as the change in NVH is significant. Dunno why Griggs state torque arm though as it is a tri-link rear with a panhard brace and anti-roll bar. Only need to replace the front K-member and rad support now (but thats more for quicker weight transfer reasons than wanting it stiffer at the front).

I'd need a high stall torque converter with the Nelson engine too (allows boost building on the line without creaping).

OK so 1200 hp is impressive. However, I want supercharged Mustangs to have the old school 6-71 or 8-71 style panache where the bonnet requires a cut out for the chromed blower and its Enderle injection scoop that flips open when the engine is revved.
