Looks 'awesome' and surely a very entertaining drive. I'm surprised there's not more power, but I guess that's why there's the ZL1.
Never mind the slightly ridiculous SC GT Mustang with it's very limited production numbers and over 1000hp. A standard GT500 makes 640hp.
The standard GT500 makes 662bhp! Even crazier!
I stand corrected.

Exactly. The packaging of that looks fantastic. Far superior to bloody huge and heavy steel coils surely.

I suspect the conversation is only aired again as it is rooted in ignorance. "Clarkson once said, yada, yada, parrot..."
As a GM fan, the only thing that I can never get to grips with is that I accept all the benefits of the TLS but why, in that case, don't they use it on the Camaro or all their cars?

I like that! Big NA engines hold much more appeal for me than forced induction. Not sure about the carbon brakes, hopefully they're just an option.

I am constantly surprised that this isn't used more often, makes torsion bars (incl coils) look really rather poorly conceived.
" titanium con-rods and intake valves" > up for more power then.

I would hazard a guess at cost. If not perhaps more limited suspension travel, as a corvette is that much lower and track focused.

I preferred the look of the earlier new camaro (is that an oxymoron?) but I just love that engine. I shamefully blagged a testdrive in the Corvette C6 Z06 when it first came out (and my car buying budget was about 1% of the list price!) and it has remained a dream car for me ever since. My right foot still desperately needs an LS7, but now my son needs a place to sit, so this Z/28 looks like the four-seat Z06 that I want in my life . . .

WANT! I thought they would wreck it with a facelift but fairplay I like that. The LS7 is my engine of choice over the LSA engine. Well in 15 years I might be able to afford one.

Did you just call the say that you need to look elsewhere when looking for high end performance? You do realize that the ZR1 has beat other "high end" performances cars costing more than twice as much numerous times now.
So why doesn't the C6.R run leaf spring?

Very cool, but I'm still not convinced that I like the look of this gen Camaro.

From a Corvette forum:

Because they have to set the car up for different tracks, they went with coil springs. It's easier to adjust the suspension with coils--that's their benefit.

On a road car where the suspension is not going to be adjusted, leaf springs are superior.

And:

The C6R uses:
- Moton 4 way adjustable coil overs. They are adjustable in
1. low shaft speed Bump (6),
2. high shaft speed Bump (15),
3. low shaft speed Rebound (10),
4. high shaft speed Rebound (15)
and are of course total revalvable and rebuildable with remote reservoirs
All total 46 different settings for each shock.
@ $10,200 per set of 4
- Coilover springs are special racing with helper pre loads (possibly some experimentation has been done with Titanium springs)
- sway bars are custom blade adjustable from the cockpit
- A Arms are custom adjustable and longer than OEM
- Upright/hub - spindel carriers are custom billet

I just don't understand!

It's a 7 litre muscle car - surely it's basically a pose - who's modus operandi surely should be to look brutal and sound like a monster?

Why gives a F about 'ring times?
I think that's a very European, or British take on it. The Yanks have always been proud of their cars on circuit abilities and handling. And in fairness they have generally been capable too.

The WS6 handling package available on Trans Am's hails from the early mid 70's. This package has along with Camaro equivalents has been available on most/all models.

The Firehawk was a handling special and SS packages on the Camaro 4th Gen came with the 1LE handling upgrades. There was also a lightweight B4C package too.

yeah, but it's the tiny drum brakes all round that are the problem.. .. Don't even get me started on the quality of the interior plastics.. wink

So PHers can argue hehe

As far as actual buyers of the car? I doubt any will care much
