As some of you know I had a ford mondeo up for sale, well today I sold the car and went to meet the new owner in town, on the way there I was driving down a busy road and a couple of lads on the pavement threw a hand full of stones at me as I was passing, no real damage was done but I was annoyed so went back to confront them, they all ran off, I gave chase and grabbed the lad, he wasn't very talkative and was not going to tell me where he lived, I decided to put him in the back of the car and take him to the police, I did so and left my name and address etc.
Now at home I feel I may have let myself into some possible issues if the young lad decides to tell lies.
Did I do the right thing, what would you have done?

I basically just grabbed him, took him about 800 metres down the round and gave him to the police, they seems ok with it all but I just had a small doubt in the back of my mind it could turn nasty if the lad decided to lie.
This all happened at 4pm, no news as yet I am sure the police would have been straight onto his parents and if there was an issue I would have heard by now?
Just makes you think, what should I have done, ignored the fact?

I salute you sir and I just hope that all involved see commonsense. Shame we can't all (or are afraid) to act like that and maybe our streets would be a nicer place.
I was working in a street years ago trying to do a TV piece for a Spanish journo when two maybe 12 year olds kept tinkering and making off with my camera gear. One of them kept taunting me and telling me that " 'e 'ad 'is rights and there's nuffink you can do 'bout it". He even kept pulling his trousers down and sticking his arse in my direction.
The Spanish guys kept looking at me and asking why I didn't do something about it.
Finally with murder in my eyes I picked up a pan bar and was about to shove it where the sun don't shine when the little tikes's mate realised that things had changed and rapidly pulled him away.
Fingers crossed for you pal.

I think forcing a kid off the street into the back of your car crosses the line IMO. If i heard some random guy did that to one of my kids i would be extremely pissed. Not that my kids would do anything as stupid as throw stones at passing cars but that's not the point IMO. Im sure your intentions were good OP and based on that i fully understand why you did what you did but its not something i would do. I would be concerned what his parents make of this when he tells them a man put him in the back of his car and took him to the police station. If hes the type of kid to be throwing stones at random car's who knows what the parents will be like. they may try and claim kidnap or abduction.

Also why did you leave your name/address etc, why didnt you just leave him at the station? i do see both sides of the arguement though, but i would have thought they would've contacted you by now if it was going to go further. Would you do the same if it happened again though OP?
No I don't think I would do the same now as a few people have mentioned a few horror stories which really makes you think.I suppose its the society we live in these days, you just have to deal with idiots these days, certainly not worth getting into hot water about.
