The Autocar forum was possibly the most negative place I have ever visited, welcome but please leave behind the posters with the usual audi/bmw/mercedes are crap brigade
It could be grim but, hey, it was my grim. Think of it as the pub you enjoy but none of your mates get. I'll miss it and some of the posters.

As for the "usual audi/bm/mercedes are crap brigade I have a more open mind. Have ran an old E Class estate for years which I think is brilliant, ran a new C Class as a company car which wasn't. The best car I've ever run was a company 525d and the best car I remember my dad having was back in 1978 when he had an Audi 5E.

I was part of the original Autocar forum that was closed back in 2006 after they made a complete balls up of the site. Autocar have no idea how to run a forum, thinking they know better then the members who post so your better off out of it.

Hey Garlick, does this mean that that the Haymarket-owned C&SC forum has also been canned? That was the first forum I ever went on, must be 10 years ago now!

I tried joining the Autocar forum to ask a question about vintage issues of the mag, but over the period of a year or so, every single time I tried, the registration page was "undergoing maintenance" or something similar

I recall a certain PH search function that has the same thing going on....

I must confess that I don't know about C&SC, other HM forums continue with success so it's certainly not the case that all are closing.

As for search, it's a big job that is being worked on. Won't be a quick job mind you.

Don't fix the search function, it wouldn't be PH if it worked

Yes, the last thing we need here is objective and perceptive free thinkers who don't conform to the norm. rofl

Funnily enough I was called drophead on there too.

Haven't posted on the Autocar forum in years though.

Mainly because it was full of whining losers...

If you consider a lot of biyatching and name calling to be "home", you'll love this place.

I stopped using the Autocar forum about 18 months ago when there was a few solid months of trolling by a few individuals, which was more obvious on the smaller forum than PH. I remember you as being one of the regular and more sane contributors alongside TegTypeR (the victim of a fair amount of baiting). Welcome TBH!

Hi TBH and other Autocar refugees. Haven't posted much on Autocar for a while now, but tried to find the forum today and it had vanished. Probably about time I came over to PH anyway but a bit of a shame the Autocar forum has closed. Now I wonder if there is a topic on the Dacia Duster, not sure if its the normal subject for a PH discussion though....

It certainly has been.

Hallo to other refugees from Autocar; I was Sportwagon there (I no longer own the Alfa 156 estate so my username here reflects the contents of my garage more accurately smile) but drifted away after the changes to the forum, especially splitting the news from the forum. I probably spend more time than I should here, but even though I've really only been scratching the surface, I find it quite addictive.

I always got the impression from the Autocar comments pages that anyone who didn't buy a Skoda Octavia was viewed as some sort of idiotic spendthrift. It's far more diverse here; you're allowed to buy an MX5 or a Porsche.

Hi, "ciao a tutti!" just coming from Autocar forum, it's quite strange seeing there all the threads with a locker...
I see there are some of renewed usernames, I would need some kind of conversion table if this goes on :-)
anyway the first impression is that PH forums are too huge for my tastes, but I'll try it.

Apparently the tide of Autocar forum users completely overwhelmed the Pistonheads infrastructure today.

You can select which ones you want to watch under "my preferences"
