RE: Fiat Strada: PH Ad Break
Discussion
The Strada has the distinction of being the last new Fiat launched in America until the 500 in 2012.
Behold the big-bumpered glory of the 1979-82 US market Fiat Strada!
It was the failure of this car in the US market which caused Fiat to close up shop in America and not return for nearly 30 years.
Enjoy this period US dealer promotional video for the Strada! (And try not to laugh!)

Pass the wrench Bob
I havent got it, Bobs got it.
Built by Roberts!
Class stuff.
That was apparently filmed on the Austin Ambassador production line - Handbuilt By Roberts was the punchline, immediately after a factory full of Roberts had shouted something [can't recall what, but it was comedic rather than negative ] collectively.I havent got it, Bobs got it.

Not sure where/why/how the original article picked up on Vivas??? The Unofficial 6Ps --> PPJ presumably - & as per "mainstream" 'journalism' nowadays .

WRK 788X - Not taxed since August 1994, lasted 12 years
DLT 113Y - Not taxed since September 2000, lasted 17 years
A465 HLH - Not taxed since May 1999, lasted almost 16 years
C354 HMC - Not taxed since May 2004, just over 18 years
Any chance of a URL for sourcing that info? I would love to check for pulses on of some of my old cars....DLT 113Y - Not taxed since September 2000, lasted 17 years

I may well be wrong , but wasnt there a follow up advert to this ? - I remember an advert for (I think) Strada's/Ritmo's, that featured an Italian couple giving a dinner party around a huge, long table, supposedly in their Mansion/Castle , the woman says 'Time for the linguine I think..' (or somesuch) and a load of Strada's appear, handbrake turning round the table delivering the food ?......

My dad had one in the mid 80s a 65cl in metallic blue.. it was a V reg. I learned to drive in it felt nippy at the time.
Last i saw of it was on a garage forecourt looking like new (full of filler)
I still hanker after a 130TC and was looking at one on here recently for £3500.
I have driven one years ago.

It was the BL Ambassador that was handbuilt by Roberts on NTNOCN which was the real Strada spoof.

Our Ritmo's were on Irish plates, and it's safe to say that they are all now dead!
In order...
682 VIM - 1982 Mk1 Super 85 in Azzuro Metallico 400
6935 DI - 1983 Mk2 1.7D CL - had been rear ended heavily at some stage, most shoddily repaired/dangerously rusted of the lot
1822 ZX - 1982 Mk1 105TC in red, a leaky glass sunroof and a blown engine, ended up with the 1.7D engine from 6935 DI. Still a hoot up until it was parked up in favour of a Tipo.
We went Regata for a bit in amongst the Ritmo's, we had a 1985 100S which was probably my favourite out of the lot. I always wanted a Regata 100S i.e. of the last generation. And a Croma!

That's as damning a verdict as anything I've heard...
ahaha... well i wanted to make a comparison with similar cars sold for a similar price (probably the horizon was less expensive).back in those days the vw golf, citroen gs etc...were more expensive, also the japaneese were very rare in europe. i don't know much about kadet and escort or allegro of the time so i picked up the horizon.
i remember it quite well and it was much much better buildt than "my" ritmo, yes it was also slow and "old looking"... but the ritmo wasn't a beauty either.
i admit the ritmo had more personality than the tipo wich is a car that nobody even remember.
The Funniest thing was the Not the 9 o'clock news spoof of humans building the same car.
Mel Smith says to Gryf hey bob, !have you got bob's torque wrench?" No Bob, i'll ask Bob..hey Bob, Bob's looking to borrow Bob's torque wrench have you seen it?
then the punch line is Fiat Strada..Built by Roberts..
