So this is my current car a 1.8 corsa Sri. I've previously had a 1.2 version of the same car but
looking for something a bit different and would appreciate some advice.?

Apologies for the rubbish phone picture. I work as an estate agent and live in a city so do a lot of town driving but do use the car to venture out regularly onto some B roads. Been looking at 2003-5 audi a3 2.0 fsi recently and seem like a good option, unfortunately I can't get anything too quick as I need reasonable mpg due to using the car for work.

Wonder if anybody had any different suggestions with 5k to spend? Can't be a diesel either as I only do short journeys for work all day !

My choice would be the Mazda2 Sport.

Newer Corsa, Fiesta or Ibiza 3dr?

£5k should get you a 2008 car with a bit of kit

Or if you want to look good on the cheap something Italian maybe.

Its quite an open what car with many potential solutions!

Hmmm. Worthy and decent but not great (we have one, the mrs' car), I'd go Swift Sport.

Toyota MR2 (mk2)?
BMW 330i (E46)?
Do you desperately need the practicality of a hatchback?

Yep, much undervalued cars I reckon. Looks like £15k worth.

I live in a city so parking is hard in a saloon/ bmw. I had a e46 320 In between the two corsas but was too big for squeezing into small spaces. Loved it though.

All my local estate agents seem to dive Smart Cars.

Dare to be different, diesel and very comfy for being stuck in traffic.

I think people assume it will wash away in the rain if it doesn't blow up first. Stupid really. I'm sure Evans Halshaw will sort you out with a half decent warranty, or there's always Warrantywise.

It won't lose any more than a 1 Series either, plus you'd have to buy a much older / higher mileage one.

That's an absolutely cracking car for the money. It's almost sad to see such high-end cars go for so little after only a few years of being on the road (this ones barely even run in!)

But, it completely fails to meet any of the criteria set by the OP. It dwarfs the 320 which the OP already mentioned was too big.

I second the Alfa - looked at these before I bought my Civic, just got a bit put off by potential depreciation. Failing that, maybe a Cooper S or a Corsa D SRI seeing as you quite like the Vauxhalls?
