If you get annoyed at being overtaken by cars you shouldn't be on a push bike. If you then have a 'go' at the driver you have to be prepared to back it up. Maybe now he'll use a car or think twice.

So, you can only complain about something if you have the strength to beat someone up? And if you don't you should just take it? The driver was always going to lamp him regardless of whether or not the overtake was fair (and truth be told it doesn't seem bad).

What a fking idyllic vision of society you have. Now I understand why some people feel the need to carry guns.

I'm a cyclist and a motorist and I'm sorry but it does seem to me that these bellends who insist on tooling themselves up with helmet cameras and big honky horns and all the other nonsense seem to bring it on themselves, or go out of their way to attract it.

The driver was going to continue until the cyclist provoked him.

Only bell ends need to carry guns or wear fking helmet cameras for protection.

I chortled at the video. Over-reaction from the van driver but the cyclist is trying to be tough again - this time from the safety of an internet post. Shat himself when the driver stopped, and would do again. Personally I'd hunt him down and give him another slap.

Looked like the van driver gave him plenty of room to me.

Sounds to me like cyclist gets kicks out of holding people up. Cyclist not happy the van got past so blasted the horn and gave gestures...

He's probably ridden like this for years and has finally messed with the wrong bloke.
+1. Not seeing any issue with the footage at all. Cyclist got what he deserved. yes

Cyclist got what he deserved. Hopefully he is a better part of society for it.

So a blast of a horn justifies assault then?

Maybe if motorists didn't do st like this there would be no need for 'fking helmet cameras'.

Youtube is crammed full of clips like this, yet people are still perfectly happy to provoke complete strangers when they have NO idea what that person is capable of.

He didn't deserve a shoe-ing, but that's the risk you take.

Did I say it justifies assault? Two mongs don't make a right, but I totally understand the frustrations of the van driver, not only at the cyclists riding, but also at being abused by a fking spineless who legs it when challenged.

Have a bit of a thing about these videos on youtube, most of it's 50/50 as a lot of these people appear to basically provoke a reaction from people.

Saw this video when it originally went up, there was no need for the horn by the cyclist but there is never ever ANY excuse for assaulting someone. Van driver should have been dealt with far more harshly I think as they have basically let him off scott free.

Cyclists generally don't seem to help themselves though on the road, riding in the middle of the road for no reason, riding 4 abreast etc. I've had them swerve in front of me and force me to swerve away recently. Car drivers need to be wary around the but some seem to have a death wish....

Van driver is a prick. Like a child having a tantrum, he can't communicate his anger so he has to lash out and make a point with his fists. Swinging the door open like that was fking dangerous too.

It's not for no reason, it's called 'primary position' and it is to make people think twice about overtaking when it's unsafe or to give extra safety margin when people are likely to overtake too closely.

I.e. to avoid situations like this:

Then what did you mean by your previous quote?

Regardless of your strength or ability to intimidate, you should have the ability to let others know that their actions have made you uncomfortable. Even if, really, their actions were fair. If you can't deal with that sort of complaint without lamping them, you have a MAJOR psychiatric problem, and the justice system should be taking you out of society until you can.

I can't understand why someone would think that, if the justice system fails to do so despite a wealth of evidence, this is your fault.

Oh wait, yes I do.

This is PH, where any incident is automatically the cyclist's fault rolleyes.

How on Earth people expect to be treated like adults behind the wheel when they defend the actions of knuckle-draggers like this is beyond me. I enjoy cars, and I enjoy being trusted with the responsibility of driving one as I please, but if the only way for me to able to ride a bike to work and for errands without worrying about aholes like that is to continue to make life a misery for motorists... fk it. I know which is more important.

Obviously nothing on the roads should justify assault.

But the cyclist isn't innocent - With his horn and camera he clearly picks his fights. And loves a good moan about drivers

And how can he be annoyed about someone overtaking him when he's on a push bike. !!!

Hard to be sure from the vid, did look like the Cyclist was being a knob, still not sure he deserved a beating, not sure he got much of a beating as he was able to stand after.

Pretty sure that's a Clio 172 Cup at 1:09.. I wonder if it's mine biggrin
