It would be good to discuss this directly with Dunlop. I'm sure they would appreciate the feedback with real-world test results and their conclusions would be most interesting.

I suspect their conclusions would be "we only claim the tyre is good for 130mph and you've been going faster than that so we don't care". smile

I'm not aware of anyone making a winter tyre with a higher speed rating than that,
Continental WinterContacts are V rated on my BMW.

OT - PH will you be attending the Sports Car meet at the Brno Autodrom weekend of 11-12 May? Normally a good day out.

Bear in mind that he needs an abnormally high load rating for such a heavy vehicle as well as a high speed rating. I think he'll need somewhere around 100, do either of those tyres go that high?

Lucky you didn't come to any greater harm if you were regularly exceeding the maximum speed rating for the tyres!

I suspect there's a fair margin for error in the ratings in terms of the likelihood of catastrophic failure. I can't see the manufacturers cutting it too fine in case they get it wrong.

Exactly, calm down. They won't explode, it's just a guideline. Does anyone really believe the manufacturer hasn't thought about that, and left quite a substantial margin?

Thanks. Will check them out. Am tempted by Brno if I am around. Race at Brno quite a bit for various races. Slovakiaring this Friday in case you are there - look for Kumiega Racing.
