These are more likely to be found on eBay or car and classic; here's one:

I'm perplexed by the lack of love for these, to me they still look like they belong in the future.

Exactly.

And it's a future way more awesome than one that'll ever exist.

A 1982 viewed future where no one has heard of speed cameras, speed humps, the Eurozone, Simon Cowell and Gordon Brown. And petrol was bought by the gallon at only £1.59 per gallon (35p per litre).

Wonderful. The future looked so much better back then.

Born in 1985 here. Not a fan, although I do like the fact it's so different. I own an Alfa so I guess I like "different" things.

I admit thought, these older citroens do have certain charm/mystic about them.

Is the picture of a Citreon XM? Don't they have the cool suspension that raises automatically when it starts? Now that is super cool!

Beautiful. If I had a colour choice I'd have gone with green.

I don't think it's an age thing, I'm a lot younger than mine. Shameless pic:

Read a wonderful mid 80s magazine review comparison of the CX GTi and the Saab 900 16v turbo. Upshot as I remember is that both had their faults but the Saab was the drivers' choice but the Citroen was the more comfortable and better riding of the two...

A friend of mine as a kid had an early one of these. With the chrome details. He was permanently stoned and had a habit of being as far from ordinary as possible.
When it broke down near a train line he just left it there. What a shame. Very striking car and imo very attractive waft.

Well, it knocks the 11 syllables of the Peugeot 405Mi16 4x4 into a cocked hat wink !

Quiet CX fan here, by the way cloud9 , my daily driver is a Peugeot 309SR so I'm at Key Stage 2 level yet hehe .

That is lovely, though I prefer the looks of the earlier ones. Theres just something effortlessly cool about big French barges!

I had one of these - modified by Maikonics to give around 250bhp & 320lbft of torque - it went pretty well (70-90 was around 4 seconds), but the standard clutch was absolutely on its limit. The unique front suspension design meant that it had absolutely no torque-steer and surprisingly very few problems with traction. The guy who ran Maikonics had his extensively modified - 35psi boost and around 450bhp, which would have been a hoot.
