It is sad but i think your cars value will be about 11-12k so they will fix it.
They won't supply a replacement, but if fully written off will give you a settlement figure. this is where you search the net, get similar speced cars and negatiate a good price.
Or wish you'd bought gap insurance. They won't supply a replacement, but if fully written off will give you a settlement figure. this is where you search the net, get similar speced cars and negatiate a good price.

Hi everyone.
So it's a long story but in short this afternoon my dad was driving himself and my mum in my mums 500 abarth and got hit on the front passengers side at speed by a young lad pushing them across into the other carriage way. Everyone ok ish all very sore but no major injuries. Police attended and the lad has admitted he was at fault etc.
My question is, the car is probably repairable but we don't want it back as a repaired car with previous accident damage and its value substaiionly affected so are we quiet within our right to say we want his insurance company to pay for a replacement ? And if so, the next problem is, as petrol heads my mum doesn't hav ur average 500 me and my dad sourced the best we cud find, ordered by a now retired f1 driver with every option the MTA gearbox it was almost £27k. It's almost 18 months old but spec for spec and mileage wise there's nothing similar other than some late 2011 Ferrari editions at £35- 27k, some new delivery mile turismo's or competizione for around £21k but not convertible and there only really 2 or 3 cars with the gearbox being the biggest problem. Other than that it would be ordering a new car to the same spec at over £26k. Is this completely unlikely though ? I can't see them paying out enough to actually replace it for anything as good a spec as mums car and don't see why they should have to loose out.
Sorry for the huge post but what do people think ? Any previous experience ? There nothing on the market the same as hers so how do we justify a price and will they try to say it has to be repaired ?
Thanks everyone

I guess that his 'unique' mass produced car may have difficulty selling it when it is repaired , when in reality a thread like this would be handy for potential future buyers of a crash repaired fiat 500 Abarth auto 2011 plate..to see how good the repair work was C

It's a fun looking car, I'm sure anyone who was considering buying that would want to be aware it had been repaired.http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
